Walmart Neighborhood Market - Grocery store in Winston-Salem - 5039 University Pkwy, USA

I always find everything I'm looking for here, understanding that it is a Neighborhood Market, not a Superstore. The lines go quick and the employees are always pleasant. I rather drive 2 additional miles and come here, than Food Lion which is less than a mile from me.

This store has just about everything in stock no matter the time of day that you are shopping. This location has an awesome Stocking Manager. However, this location is just about on a consistent basis shorthanded of the front end staff so there is a lot of theft, which is why there are certain products that have increased in cost. When people steal then working people have to pay the consequences of higher cost because the products that are being stolen isn't being replaced with monies so then it becomes a financial loss which drives up the shrinkage factor.

This week I did a grocery pick up order because I have a one year old and I love the convenience of it, and that lady who brought out my order was super sweet so the two stars are for her alone. I know it's Walmart so it's not like you expect the best produce ever but there was very obvious mold on my strawberries AND the avocados I received were completely overripe to the point of being inedible. It wasn't like you couldn't tell from the outside, as soon as I touched the avocado I knew they were bad. Unfortunately I've been so busy that I wasn't able to take them back yesterday or today, so I guess it's just a loss on my part. They REALLY need to address the produce issues though because it's not really saving money when I have to throw out produce. I could just go to Lowe's, Food Lion, Aldi, or anywhere else to get produce that's slightly more expensive but way better quality.

Update as of 11/16/2023: Visited Walmart recently to go inside real quick to get a few groceries items. Wasn't crowded nor any long lines so I was in and out the store less than 20 minutes. Visited 8/10/2023 @ 4:02P and as soon as I and some other people entered the building the power went out and flicker, came back on quick for 1 seconds then total power went out. The Managers and employees informed us it's a power outage and possibly will take an our to get every thing back up and running again as well as helped escort all of us out so could lock the doors . I didn't get to do my shopping there unfortunately because couldn't wait an hour but I rate 5+ stars because situation was overall handled well 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕. - Sincerely, Lisa Carroll

Walmart is becoming a worse and worst place to shop. Of course because of broke purchasing power, being one of the largest corporations in the world, they can offer better prices on many things. However they are always short-staffed and you always have to ring up your own groceries. The employees that they do have are typically inexperienced and not quite helpful. Lots of bad attitudes. Very few friendly polite and knowledgeable, helpful employees. Management at this specific location has been rude, even racist and hateful, on multiple occasions.

Pharmacy department - great staff running this pharmacy. Always very friendly, professional and helpful. Thank you for all you do!!!

Go the extra two miles to the supercenter instead, I've lived in this area for two years and this walmart is consistently dirty even for Walmart standards.

It's better than the typical grocery store! Great prices are a bonus. Pleanty of available registers to cash you out - no lines. Wonderful!!!
