We stayed here 6 months ago for one night when we were visiting for The Great Escape. First off - this motel is in a VERY good location. It is right next to the theme park within walking distance and across the street is one of the best ice cream places I've been to (Martha's Dandy Cream). The rooms here however are pretty old and need major updating. I'll start off by saying the TV was nice, and the coffee machine seemed pretty up to date though we don't drink coffee. Our A.C. unit worked without issues and so did the mini fridge. The bathroom however needed a lot of work. An odd looking sink, no hair dryer, and really old shower that had poor plumbing. When we were there however the manager, Joanna, who was absolutely fantastic, was very friendly and helpful. She told us that they were working on getting the bathrooms renovated for next year, so I'd expect by around next summer the bathrooms will be improved. The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars instead of 4 is because I remember how horrible the bed was :( the mattress was REALLY hard and uncomfortable to the point where it hurt my back and I had trouble sleeping throughout the whole night. I highly suggest that along with the bathrooms they replace the mattresses. Although the place has stellar management, even with the bathrooms renovated I wouldn't be able to stay there again with such uncomfortable mattresses. I'd like to thank Joanna again though for making our stay as pleasant as possible given the state of the place.
We love the Wakita. My family and friends have been staying at the Wakita for more than 10 years. The location is great. It's right next to the amusement park and directly across the street from Martha's so we can get ice cream whenever we want. We love to sit out on the porch and watch all the activity. The pool is the best. You won't find a larger one in the area. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. We really like the pine paneling. It gives it an Adirondack feel. The the staff is the best. They're always friendly and courteous. They really make you feel welcome!
So for the money it was a little over priced, but I would stay again. The pool was nice, and clean. The room wasn't huge but wasn't small either. The fridge and microwave were nice. My sisters boyfriend thinks the shower head needed to be hire (but it didn't bother me lol). At first the room was a little musty and you have to check in at the country suit and inn (up the hill from there) the staff was great I had a small over charge but they took care of it right away. Great location! Easy walk to the great escape (which is why we went) the creemee place across the road had the BEST ice cream. Next to restaurants and shopping. (My bed frame was broken on one of the queen beds we had which was annoying but the bed themselves were comfy). So don't expect the ritz but it's a nice places
My nephew requested his birthday party out of the area, so my family and I stayed at the Wakita for two nights. ||I haven't read the other two reviews on here but I am flabbergasted at a 2 star rating. No, it wasn't high tech but in all reality, what are you really looking for in a motel room? I personally look for a comfortable bed and great location. When I got to the room, it was clean; smelled good and had hot water. The partnership with Country Inn and Suites is nice because of breakfast. Martha's across the street; Great Escape next door; Lake George Village about a 5 minute drive depending on outlets (another perk) traffic and a drive in very close. Nephew had a great time and I enjoyed the area and my room very much.
Located next to the Great Escape, this small friendly Motel will remind you of traveling with your family back in the day. No frills, just clean friendly service. The pool was nice, the room was clean and nicely decorated. Actually got handed a Key instead of a card to unlock the door. For the location is was very quiet.
I found this motel very reasonable. Clean, comfortable bed. very plain Jane. It's not the Ritz but a place to drop and enjoy the amusement park next door. The pool very clean. And right across the road is MARTHA's ice cream stand. The driveway is a little tricky but I was called that morning by staff and was told how to enter the motel. So it was fine. I would stay again.
My family and i had a great stay along with fantastic service. The staff and the managers were extra nice. Wakita is in a great safe place. We also enjoyed the outdoor pool. I also forgot to mention. My daughter's didn't want to sleep together and the staff went out their way to bring us a cot. We had the best 4th of July overall….. Sincerely, David O and Family
Awesome trails! We are a couple of 60+ year olds, and have been working our way thru the local trails. This one took us almost twice as long than the same distance on Halfway Brook, we really needed to pay attention to the roots and rocks....which is
I brought my daughter and her friend here for her 15th birthday and we had such a great time! The attendant spent a lot of time going over gun safety as we needed it and allowed us to move along at our own pace. He was incredibly kind and patient, wh
Okay first of all, mini golf is pretty popular pastime in the Lake George area. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that this location has TWO courses! Thatâs 36 holes total! I believe the prices were $10 per person for one course or $16 to do both
beautiful lit XC skiing trails. trails are groomed with enough room for skate skis and classic XC skis, they also have snowshoeing trails. all the trails seem well marked. absolutely must check this place out!!
This place is a gem! Was craving some delicious Hispanic food and of course, the options in the area were limited. Stopped by La Cocina Mexicana and was pleasantly surprised! Ordered a chicken quesadilla which was fantastic! Filled with veggies and c
