Wagner's 1844 Inn - Featured Reviews (8)
I found Wagners by chance, and was absolutely delighted! Very clean room (a must in my book), inexpensive, and exceptional, friendly service from host who was trying to juggle the business and a medical emergency (I hope your wife is OK!). Easy checking in and out, will definitely stay again if I'm in the area
My husband and I stayed at Wagner's Inn for 2 nights in July, 2009. The Canopy Room had a very comfortable bed, charming furnishings, and a ceiling fan which made sleeping with the windows open very relaxing. The billiard room was fun the rest of the home was filled with antiques. Barb made great and different breakfasts for us each morning. And I can't forget to mention Maxi, the adorable dog of the house. He was so calm and sweet and well behaved around us. I would certainly recommend anyone to stay for a few nights a this great B&B.
I recently travelled with a group to Sandusky Yacht Club for the weekend. I chose Wagner's because of the location only 3.5 blocks to the yacht club. I came in very early on Friday morning and hoped I may be able to check in prior to headed to Cedar Point for the afternoon. Barb was gracious enough to check us in early and get us on our way. We also met Max, the dog of the house and he was also so friendly. The Inn was beautifully decorated and breakfast was excellent. We were treated to home made breads and preserves and fresh fruit and yogurt. The second morning we had an egg and turkey sausage scramble and fresh made muffins. I was joined by two other couples and both of them enjoyed the inn as well. I look forward to visiting again.
My wife and I were in town for two weddings. We chose Wagner's because it was close to the downtown area and local restaurants and away from the traffic of Cedar Point. We got a bonus, because Barb the owner is such a gracious host. She gave us so much info about local restaurant recommendations, activitites in the area and had several guidebooks and papers about Sandusky and vicinity. ||We stayed in the Canopy room which was so charming and quaint. And Max the dog is a calm obedient creature, so friendly. If you are looking for a convenient location that is close to Cedar Point, area wineries and the ferries, Wagners is the place.
This house has many quaint rooms, Can walk to dinner in downtown Sandusky. We had the Canopy Room which was spacious and had the most beautiful crocheted canopy cover. However I'm very short and had trouble getting in and out of the tall bed. As for the breakfast...OMG the breakfast was delicious and bountiful: homemade muffins, homemade bread, ripe cantaloupe, egg & potato frittata. And so many little frilly things that one never uses at home such as a tiny china plate for the butter, elegant butter knife, etc. This B&B also belongs to Bed and Breakfast.com, hence they accept the B&B gift card.
My stay here in April 2023 was just what I wanted when I booked the room. Centrally located, comfortable bed downstairs, adorable antiques, delicious breakfast, thoughtful host. There is some train noise but I expect that is true for all of downtown Sandusky. I hope to return summer 2024.
This lovely old home home is very beautiful and rooms are comfy. It is walking distance from downtown - parking is street parking but was not a problem. The billiards room is a great touch too! Barb is a great host and her breakfasts were wonderful out on the closed-in porch/sunroom lookin Dog, Max is also a sweety!
This was my first experience at a B&B and I don't think I can stay at a regular hotel again. It was perfect in every way. My friend and I got in at 2AM and having never stayed at a B&B we didn't know what to expect. We pulled up to the house and were relieved to find the lights still on inviting us in. Barb greeted us and we walked in to a charmingly decorated house. We stayed in the gold room which was quite lovely although it doesn't get a lot of sunlight. Breakfast was always delicious from the peach muffins to the pecan cinnamon rolls. The location was perfect being no more than a 10-minute drive to Cedar Point and the waterfront. All in all a great experience.
This was our first time ever staying at a B&B and it did not disappoint. The property is absolutely gorgeous and peaceful. All the staff and guests were extremely kind and helpful. Everything was sooo clean. The food was phenomenal. We couldn't have
