Virginia Inn & Suites - Hotel in Lawrence - 2903 W 6th St, USA

I booked the king bed room. It was clean but needs some painting. No plug in by the bed for plugging in phones. I gave a four star rating because the bed is so comfortable that I want to take it home with me! I usually experience aches and pains on whatever bed I sleep on. None of that whatsoever after sleeping on this bed!

We had stayed at this location years ago and it was a good mom and pop motel. We thought we would stay there again after about a 5-6 year absence. Bad idea! We got there at check in time. We walked in the room and it smelled a bit wonky. We went to our festivities and came back to the motel late that eve. Got ready to take a shower and the sticky floor felt nasty on our bare feet. Walked into the shower and it was slick and slimy. Had to use the restroom before my shower and the toilet rocked on its base. Got up super early the next morning and went to breakfast. It was also sad. No milk for your oatmeal and no cereal. Had yogurt, honey buns and donut sticks with Sunny D. Went back to the room to pack up. Brushed my teeth and noticed that the sink was draining very slowly. It finally drained down after a few minutes. My wife was packing and noticed that black nasty water was backing up in the sink. She said that “There is no way in hell I’m brushing my teeth in that sink!”. I reported the unclean room, the rocking toilet and the backed up sink when I checked out. The owner acted surprised that it was that bad. Never an apology or a discount or anything. We will not ever stay here again and I would not recommend it to anyone, unless you like swill and the wonderful smell of backed up sewage.

We had stayed at this hotel years ago and it was a little dated, but fairly clean. We stayed here in June of 2024 and it was terrible. Our room had a tile floor and it was sticky. Like it hadn’t been mopped in a long time. The bottom of your shoes, socks and feet were black from walking on it. The toilet was loose at the base, so it rocked back and forth. The shower floor was slick and slimy and was not sealed in many spots. We got up the next morning and the sink was backing up with brown water that eventually turned black. We went down for breakfast and the selection was terrible. Had instant oatmeal, yogurt, Sunny D, a selection of honey buns and donut sticks. No milk for your oatmeal. They weren’t even trying! We will never stay here again. We try to find small mom and pop places, but we won’t be back here, ever. The grounds had been neglected also. Trash everywhere, bushes and weeds overgrown everywhere. Not a pleasant stay at all.

Not realizing what I was getting into I booked a room at this facility, for two nights. This place is a total dump!!!! And that can’t even describe how bad it is. It’s dirty, the staff is horrendous. When I checked in, I explained to them that I was not going to need the second evening because I was going to stay with family. They refused to refund my second night. Obviously it was more than 24 hours in advance. seriously, stay away from this place.

We booked two rooms here online after reading the Expedia reviews. Unfortunately, they must have been employees or family members of the owners or staff. This was used as a homeless shelter at one point and it was quite obvious when we asked to look at a room before officially checking in. The room was terrible and the smell was noxious and I told the clerk we would not be staying there. They held half of the money that the 3 days for two rooms would have cost and would not return it. Thankfully, Expedia refunded the cost that these horrible people tried to steal from me. Do not book here based on reviews because they are obviously fake. It was mother/daughter weekend at KU and all the hotels were booked pretty much but there was one car at the Virginia Inn. That should tell you everything you need to know.

This has to be the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed at. Believe the other reviews describing how filthy it is. I’ve stayed at other motels that while older, are well kept. That is just not the case at all here, it’s really run down. When we mentioned a broken towel rod to management, they basically said “okay.” Stay elsewhere.

The hotel is so old and rundown. The owners stole money from me. We had checked in for two nights because our air conditioning was broken. When I checked and the gentleman charged me for both nights and I explained to him that we only needed one night because our AC was repaired. He assured me that he would refund my money. A months later I find the full charge on my credit card. I contacted them and the young man that answered the phone at the front desk, I explained the situation and he immediately refunded my money and sent me a confirmation receipt. |The next morning, apparently, the mother. It’s a family owned hotel, did not like that and reverse the charges.|It’s really unfair for hotel owners to directly lie to their customers and not follow through. |Even besides that, I would never recommend this hotel. It is just run down and feels really dirty.

I stayed at Virginia inn & suites in Lawrence KS. If I could rate this place zero I would. To say it was dirty is an understatement. The sheets , walls, shower curtains just about everything was filthy. The room smells like sewage. When we complained to the hotel they offered us an air freshener to mask the smell. We slept fully clothed. The property should be condemned. If you could stay away I would. This was the worst experience of my entire adult life.
