Village Inn of Blowing Rock - Featured Reviews (208)
Very romantic little place. Quiet. Comfortable and clean. The pond out front is perfect for sitting to eat pizza and share a bottle of wine in the evening and relaxing to a cup of coffee in the AM. The rooms even have back porch with rocking chairs to relax. Fyi rooms 114 and down back to trees and a small stream very cute. If you are looking for all the trappings of Hilton, Marriott or the Ritz, and a one week stay with gym, diners, lounge etc etc. this is not the place. But it was 5 star quiet, clean and peaceful.
We stayed in room 117 at the Village Inn on 7876 Valley Blvd, Blowing Rock, SC over July 4th, 2024. They have a beautiful location with a nice pond our front. And a great back yard for pets. We had two major issues while were were there. The first one was that their Wi-Fi service was very poor to non-existent. And with the cell service, being very poor in Blowing Rock, we could only get to Facebook, messenger and iPhone Messages sporadically. Which was very frustrating. Secondly, their Spectrum Cable service was very sporadic with the TV actually shutting down several times, and we'd then have to restart it again and again, and re-locate the show were were watching. We thought we could get around this by using their TV service to get to our own Netflix, YouTube TV and Prime accounts and watch shows through these. But alas, their TV service could make no connections to any of our subscriptions. Not even through our i-Phones as their Wi-Fi- was so poor. Finally, the floor in Room 117 is sagging horribly and we were concerned that it would give way and our foot could go through the floor. This rotting floor is very bad and dangerous. We won't be staying here again! We'll be staying at a better kept hotel with proven Wi-Fi and TV service. This is an old hotel and in serious need of an overhaul/re-model.
BEWARE.... don't usually do bad reviews but people need to know! I booked this place online and was very disappointed!! The pictures online are of different properties that can be booked, which is VERY deceiving. Also, the pictures that were of this location must be very old. First off, the room wasn't clean, but the bed linens were fresh. THANK GOODNESS!!! It's a very old place. Walls are very thin so you can hear everything in the next room. Old creaky hardwood floors that were dirty. We didn't even shower because of cleanliness. Front porch had loose boards so I almost tripped twice. The room was supposed to be a king suite lol NOT!! I forgot to take photos. Just don't be fooled by online pics when booking online. I paid 169. For a night of disgust! We could've stayed in an amazing hotel for this price. The creamers in room for coffee were old. It is close to downtown blowing rock but not close enough to walk as suggested. My advice don't book at village inns in blowing rock, Or atleast the one with Duck pond! The only thing front desk said about it all was sorry! The only good thing was the restaurant behind us Twigs had great food and music. The good reviews must be the other locations on the site NOT VILLAGE INN!
This was a great place to stay in Blowing Rock with easy access off a main road. There are quite a few restaurants and shops within a short drive or walk. The room was clean and had lots of space with a couch and seating area separate from the beds. The place is also dog friendly for a fee per day.
Positive: Loved the room. Nice bed. Loved the back porch with the rockers. Enjoyed sitting outside in the shade. Everything is A+. Negative: ""
This place was absolutely run down. The stove did't work correctly, the TV's did not work in the sitting area or the bedroom, the couch was broken, there was mold in the shower, mold and mildew on the shower floor. Only 1 coffee cup, dirty untensils. No sponges to wash anything in the kitchen. I tried to find someone to help us, however, even the staff couldn't find a sponge for the dirty kitchen. And if that isn't bad enough, they are not in any way shape or form, accommodating of the disabled. When we booked this dump, we explained that due to a serious medical issue, that we needed to have parking in front of our "cottage" and were told by the booking agency that there is parking right in front. So we booked it. One night during our stay, our vehicle was blocked and we had no access to get to our room, nor get our service dog in. I tried to complain to the front desk and all she could say is, "there's nothing I can do for you, park elsewhere." I asked for a manager and she said, "noone is available." I explained where i was going to park in order to get me spouse and service animal to the room and to call me if someone complains. Sure enough, a guy named Sam, supposedly the property manager" came banging on the door and without hesitatation told me to move the vehicle or he was going to have it towed. When I told him I would and tried to explain the situation, he threatened me - he said move the car in 5 minutes or I will call the police and have you removed from the property. I asked for his manager and he said..."i'm it, there isn't anyone to speak to, move the vehicle" and he walked away. The next morning I was able to get a business card of the "other manager" which I promptly called and was told "my concerns would be relayed." No phone call from the manager. This is a family business that owns and operates several inns in Blowing Rock. Stay far far away.
if i could give this place 6 stars instead of 5 i would! the room was gorgeous, we really appreciated the good quality furniture, the familiar feeling of it, and the little details such as providing make up wipes and the shower soap smelling delicious.
I felt that the money we spent on the 3 nights here was a rip-off. The cabin itself has a good layout. A separate living room with a futon that is supposed to be used as a couch, however, those days have since passed. Time to replace. The kitchen area which is located in the same space as the living room has a small refrigerator, stove (doesn't work and was filthy), and a microwave. However, it was missing cups, a sharp knife, sponges, etc. The bedroom was a good size with a king size that was very comfortable. The floors were in the same condition as the living room, ground in dirt on wood floors, fans had dirt on them, and the small bathroom had dead bugs in the floor vent. The bathroom stone shower floor was simply disgusting. It needs a deep clean. While we paid for housekeeping, we were notified that there would be no housekeeping the long weekend were there. I did not find the mgmt staff to be of any help when I went looking for a sponge. They couldn't find any sponges anywhere and were supposed to get back to me, never did. The parking spaces for the cottages are directly behind the motel. The parking was insufficient for the number of cottages and penthouses. We found the property manager unprofessional and of no real help to us as we couldn't find a parking space in the entire place. He allowed us to park in a handicap space. Not a place I would ever refer anyone to.
