We arrived after the kitchen closed but they accommodated us and we tried a few items they had made ahead. The Gumbo was excellent and had a bit of heat to it. The venue has a warm cozy feel with a market general store wall, chic booth seating with overhead chandeliers, and tables and chairs to saddle to a neighbor and strike up conversations.
I needed a special place for a special anniversary for my special fiancée. I had reservation options, but I had heard great things about Vic and Al’s, and decided to roll the dice on getting in. Holy &$@*, am I glad we did. We pulled up, and thought it looked packed inside. Girlfriend went in to check, and the look was deceiving - they were definitely busy, but you can sit and order at the bar, as well. When it’s not too cold, there’s patio seating, too. We had catfish atchafalaya smothered in crawfish and shrimp étouffée, and a wood-fired oven-roasted mahi mahi with charred fennel, mashed sweet potatoes and sweet chili glaze. And, of course, the danged corn dogs. An Old Fashioned is a simple thing that is often wrong, somehow, but their corn old fashioned was solid as could be. My fiancée , who doesn’t usually love martinis, declared Winnie Martini one of the best martinis she’s ever had. The Orange Drink (tequila, ginger cayenne simple syrup, carrot and orange juice, with a citrus salt on the rim) was fantastic. But yay, fantastic food and drinks and a cozy, lively atmosphere. What really got us was the service. When everything is so fantastic, they could get away with good or “great” service. It could be super-efficient and servile, or it could have personality but just OK. The staff here gave you the kind of touches and personal attention you’d expect in a more expensive and potentially stuffy restaurant, but with a personality and sense of genuine care. We’ll definitely be back, and we’re bringing friends. I’ve lived in Austin all my life, over 50 years, and this is the sort of restaurant we all want to see survive and thrive. So, go do your part for that - you’ll be rewarded!
It was a little hard to find at first glance but so glad we did ! Immediately greeted at the front by friendly staff. The food menu is not that big but what they have is soo good ! We shared the ettouffe & the gumbo with some corn dogs for the little one. My LO isn’t too picky , some things were a little spicy for him but he liked it anyways! All is made in house & you can tell! 10/10 Definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu !
Quaint and enjoyable place. Food comes out hot and is nicely portioned. Order in line and they deliver to table. Daily specials keep you coming back to discover more favorites. I had the chicken and rice. It was basically chicken strips and they were good. The corn dogs are tasty and just the right size for a couple bites. My friends and I ordered the entire menu and shared it all. Drinks are good and strong.
Ordered takeout. Food was excellent very flavorful and the staff was so incredibly nice. when I walked in they explained the restaurant and how the menu changes every day. Also, pretty neat to see all of the ingredients right there when you walk in.
Couple things, heads up wish I knew... Parking is tough. They have a 15 spot lot in back but all were filled @630p. Front has 3 or so, and some designated. Dont Even think about parking in the neighborhood... Signs up everywhere neighborhood parking only. Second thing, it's hard to find... It's on the end of the bldg closer "kitty" business, down from Dai Due. Best new restaurant I've been to in a long time. Most delicious Blackened catfish on Greens w salad base (best FRESH salad/greens I've had in a long time). Really yummy non alcoholic virgin drinks, lots of homemade mixers and drinks. No premade stuff here!! Great bartender really helpful when I just wanted a partially sweet tea. Made me an orange-y tea. They have lots of old fashioned drinks too. I didn't get a change to try their sides but they all looked good.
Really cool place with quaint atmosphere and a small focused menu. The food and drinks we tried were all tasty and well made. Asked to substitute poboy bun for a side of salad on the Cochon and they were happy to accommodate change. Parking is a bit tough because it’s so small and crowded, hard to turn around and we had to part in nextdoor parking area.
This place was great, everything I had was phenomenal except… the beets, wasn’t impressed with the beets but the fried chicken on rice was delicious and flavorful, the beignets could compare to the famous beignets of NOLA, this spot is legit. It’s a bit pricey but overall worth the price, my table ordered side salad, chicken on rice, beets, beignets, gumbo and boudin balls. Everything was truly delicious except the beets, the cocktails were good, the food amazing, and overall worth it and will be back. If you want Cajun in Austin this is one of the spots to be at
I drove into Austin from Houston for the day and figured it was time to get some Cajun food so I stopped here. I'm sure glad I did. I ordered the Shrimp Poboy and a cup of Red Beans & Rice. I loved it all. The French bread was fresh, straight from L
We eat here often, today we showed up with six people and had a variety of entrees. Everything from oyster po' boy, fried pickles, boudin, Cajun Alfredo, garlic shrimp and fried catfish. The Alfredo was the least popular and the most popular was the
This place is fantastic! I had such a great workout! The treadmills are excellent, and you can actually feel a difference between Strideâs treadmills and regular ones. The teacher Rachael was clear and encouraging. The vibes were great: modificatio
A feeling of calm radiates from this lovely coffee truck. I observed many regulars (including pups) interacting in a community way. A canopy of a ginormous pecan tree gives the Terrible Love protection as well protecting some of the abundant greener

This was such an amazing experience! My friends and I visited from NC, and the workout kicked our butts (in a good way). We had such a great time talking to the owner, Jordan, and the coaches, Dawson and Josh, as well as the members. There is a great
As someone who has tried most gyms, studios, and boot camps in this city, I can confidently say that Cristian is, hands down, the best trainer in the city! I leave every session feeling more invigorated and stronger than the last thanks to his extens
Stumbled upon this gem on South 1st and was able to try a variety of fresh samples. As a plant based eater, I was blown away at the creativity given to the menu. The Campfire Chili is hands down the best chili Iâve tasted. The owner Aaron was very
Our experience at Bar AC was fantastic! We had a great time and it was a wonderful send-off for our friend. The cocktails were top-notch, and the service was excellent. Courtney, our waitress, was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed. If
Elite coffee spot. I make a physical effort to stop by each time I'm in town, and I'd be here every day if I lived in Austin. Try the pumpkin spice latte, they make it the perfect level of not too sweet
Visited Austin for the weekend and took the free trial at Ambush. It was awesome and I would definitely recommend checking this gym out. I've been training Muay Thai and MMA for ~ 2-3 years now and this gym is great for learning Muay Thai and striki
