Vendange Carmel Inn & Suites - Hotel in Carmel-By-The-Sea - 24815 Carpenter St, USA

I was expecting a bit more from my experience here, especially for the price and the seemingly positive reviews. Negatives: Upon arrival the room had a very dank and damp smell/feel which I thought would go away. It did not. There is no AC or any kind of active ventilation and because the room is a bit small so anytime you shower the humidity lingers in the room. We stayed for three nights and our towels from the first night shower never dried. Because of this there is mold on the edges of doors and by windows. The sliding door to balcony had no screen. The furnishings and aesthetics try to be "wine inspired", but really the style seemed to be whatever discount furniture they could find. The carpet was thin and lumpy in some locations. The outward facing rooms were very loud during the day as they face a major road, which really kills the "quiet town" vibes that Carmel has. There was 0 house keeping services. We had to ask for all towels, coffee, waters, shampoo directly from front desk. The only positive is that it is located in Carmel and a 15 min walk from town.

We stayed here for one night with our 6 year old daughter on a road trip through California in April 2024. We were only here as a "stop-and-go", so we landed in around dinner time and were headed out by 7 a.m. the next morning. We had a King bed with a patio (we didn't use the patio, but of note, it has two Addarondack chairs and a small table, but it is quite a small/squishy space - it is private though). ||The room was clean and comfortable and had a pretty good sized fridge and separate freezer (which was helpful for us since we were on a road trip and had groceries with us). The hotel isn't staffed after 10 p.m. (we were told there would be no staff on site), and when we went to check out the next morning, the staff were not back, so I don't know what time they arrive in the morning to open.||Overall, a clean place to rest if you're on a road trip.

Right off the freeway as you enter Carmel . Downtown and Ocean Ave is 5mins away. Very basic, small but comfortable rooms. No Breakfast but tea coffee in the rooms and ironing bord

Service is definitely not their motto . They don't even make up your room or empty the trash if you stay more than one day. The public toliet in town has better toilet paper! Would never stay there again!

Beautiful location and super convenient for our trip. Rooms were a good size and beds comfortable. Very limited space in our bathroom. Courtyard was beautiful and a great place for our group to gather.

Cyndy was very friendly and a great host, as were the other staff. Cozy and cute place and affordable :) Close to everything. I really enjoyed my stay here and would come again!

This review is exclusively for the “Galante” room- we chose the option with a king bed because my partner is tall and is uncomfortable when he has to sleep with his feet hanging off the bed. The bed is so caved in, it felt like we were in a hammock, we didn’t realize this until the second night of sleeping in it. After 2 nights of sleep, my partners back was in pain and my pelvis felt like I had climbed a Mount Everest in my sleep - I could barely walk without horrible pain in my pelvic joints accompanied with limping. (It is almost 4 days later and I still have pain) If you are looking for a king bed - please beware of the galante room unless management makes a replacement of the bed. The room itself has no ventilation other than the balcony doors and front door save for a minuscule window in the bathroom. So after a shower it is a humid box.

Cyndy, one of the managers at the property, made this visit so great. She confirmed, modified, checked our reservations with us on the phone ahead of time. Made changes as we requested. Got us a great room and everything we needed on our stay. She was so helpful that we could just relax and breathe easy, and her personality was just delightful. The location is super convenient for a quick drive or unhurried stroll downtown. Nice views of the mountains over the many interesting plants and trees on the brick paver and multi-trellised property. Super low key. If you want people fumbling over themselves to serve you this is not your place. Rooms are super clean, airy, and bright. Beds are top notch. Good coffee in the morning in one of the mini pots in the room. I found stay here again in an instant. Super easy drives to everywhere you’d want to go. Close the highway 1. (Just because no place is perfect, the nighttime help sometimes struggle with communication and if your a business person who needs strong Internet this is not your place.)
