The United States Navy Memorial Visitor Center tells the story of the American Sailor -- past, present, and future -- and honors, recognizes, and celebrates the men and women of the Sea Services.
This Memorial was very cool with the navy flags on display plus the bronze pictures sculptures had a fun 2D/3D element to it. The outside of the memorial I had a nice little multi tiered fountain, and in the center of the Memorial had a nice map displaying all the oceans.
The museum for a beautiful memorial that honors the sea services of the United States. It is free to visit here. Plaques surround two sides and water fountain offer peaceful noise. Benches and steps can be used to sit on, and there is ample walking space. The center is the cement etched to show a map of the world in the sense of being a globe. Overall, this is a lovely place to take in.
One of the most underrated free museums that's not currently too popular. Went on a weekday in the afternoon and was greeted to a museum almost to myself. Unassuming looks but once you navigate your way to the floor below the main entrance, you're met with a surprising number of exhibits that's both informative and well designed. Easily spend an hour or two if you like to dive in to naval history and fascinated by the artifacts and model ships.
Small museum in the basement.
The boat miniatures were quite nice and the little videos were cool.
Very easy to spend 30mins but definitely under 1hr.
There are many memorial plaques and a few uniforms on display.
Looks interesting but the visitors center is closed for two months (until March 2024)
Some cool items in the museum. I fell like if I was in the nave it would have been very enjoyable but I’m just not familiar with the navy
My great Uncle was in the Navy during WWII and the museum and water fountain is a beautiful tribute to all who served off our shores. There are many places around the fountain to relax, read, have a snack, or people watch.
