Trails are beautiful even this time of year seen a couple deer and captured picture of 2 eagles nesting. The only thing that sucked was at Mike's shipyard, just before Lewis and Clark educational facility, he has dumped 5 piles of dirt right in the middle of the trail causing me my wagon to have to go off road. Damn near toppled my load over.
Great area to explore! Walk, bike, run, fish or just have a picnic. The Lock and Dam is a really cool thing to take a tour of. Kids really like it! You can exercise on the bike trail/levee that goes right along the parking area. Ample parking with restrooms next to the lot. Safe and clean.
nice to get away just think aloud peace of mind hearing the river running by sometimes having friend with you . so if tour looking to just get away or thinking give it a try. i always tinking about the great father an mother rip
Nice place along the Mississippi to access the MCT trail or just relax and rest lunch while watching the boats traverse the river, birds in the air and water and people fishing. Great spot for checking out nesting eagles.
This is a MUST STOP destination if you want to see how a lock and dam work on the Mississippi River. CALL AHEAD to make sure the museum is open and they are giving tours of the lock and dam. If you go there anyways, (still advised) ...you will find HEATED BATHROOMS THAT ARE OPEN....even when EVERY RESTAURANT IN TOWN WONT LET YOU USE THEIR RESTROOMS.
If you keep going up the museum at the top is awesome up to the left and they got all kinds of things where you can like look through and watch and different stuff sometimes they have programs on the weekend and they're along the line that you see where you can see the barges come in and out that is a nice area to fish.
So much potential to be a really great attraction. But felt like monetary constraints caused some exhibits not to be functional. Was a little disappointed. But still a worthwhile trip. Would definitely recommend it.
Nice little safe spot to watch the barges come in!

Really cool and informative tour of the lock. You are able to go all the way out to the middle and look out over the Mississippi. The museum itself is also very neat and interactive, great for families with children.
