Umami Curry - Restaurant in Jacksonville - 11701 San Jose Blvd #23, USA

Wow. This place is the epitome of too cool for school. Awesome booths for comfort and date night. The curry broth (thin) was deep and flavorful, pork belly and brisket perfectly cooked, scallions and pickles added a great contrast to the poached egg. It was indeed the best kind of umami experience!

The first time i went here was with my boyfriend and roommate and i’ve been hooked ever since! The food is delicious, the vibe is really cute and the service is fast and kind. The most recent time i went with just my boyfriend and we got a bunch of appetizers, two entrees, and two desserts! The food came pretty quickly and tasted delicious! I love this place 🩵

Leaving this review before I even leave the restaurant. I promise you won’t regret stopping in for a meal! The shopping center looks abandoned but don’t be turned away - it’s perfect in here. Super friendly staff and DELICIOUS food wait for you. I had the hamburg curry rice and my husband had the umami curry rice. Gyoza to start. All absolutely killer. Honestly takes me right back to our honeymoon in Japan. Do not skip this one!

This place is special, really special. My son and I were out to try something new and Umami Curry was the one he chose. The restaurant is small, maybe ten tables and service that is both friendly and efficient. The location is in a near empty shopping center, across from Winn Dixie, so parking is not an issue. But what you want to know about the food. Ebbi - friend shrimp that I can only describe as SCRUMPTIOUS. Takoyski - IFYKYK, good version served very hot. Curry Ramen - 12 hour roasted brisket over a plate of vegetables, pickles, fried potatoes and noodles. But the flavors is umami and it is delicious. Udon Ramen - same brilliant flavor of curry, just served with thick udon noodles. This is my preferred version. Dessert - the desserts are light, not my favorite but by this point I was plum full but there are some interesting flavor options including Matcha. It is certainly worth hunting for, the good is so good.

Food: Shoyu Ramen 8/10. Curry Ramen 9/10. Gyoza 7/10. Atmosphere: Super cool Naruto theme with comfy chairs and wooden tables. Staff is amazing. Small but great place to hang out. Parking: Free large lot in a shopping center.

I went here for the first time and it was great. I decided to have the yellow curry and rice. That was excellent. For dessert, I decided to order ice and fries banana pieces. That was delicious. I will return here again.

This is our new ramen noodle and sushi spot! The atmosphere is amazing, it feels like you are in a different country once you enter and sit down. The staff was very nice and helpful, the food was amazing, and the prices were pretty good. A must try place when you are in the mandarin area if Jacksonville. We will defiantly be back soon!

Casual, cool and cozy. The atmosphere inside was inviting and relaxing. The owners and employee staff were very welcoming upon arrival and made my dining experience a great one. Overall service was wonderful and the food amazingly tasty. Each dish was light and flavorful. The appetizers, dinner entree and dessert were all very delicious. Hope to be first in line on my next visit once the restaurant opens for business. Looking forward to my next meal at Umamijax!
