most relaxing place in Michigan. This place bring solidarity to anyone who is around. The history of what the UAW is about just makes you want to be a part of the UAW even more.

Loved the experience. Great hiking trail. Beautiful golf course. Very friendly staff. Training courses were excellent. Rooms were clean and the food was excellent.

4.5 star. Beautiful club house. The greens could use a little TLC and the fairways are a little beat-up. Challenging course with nice veiws.. They have a nice driving range. Getting the balls from the machine does take a little finesse. We were paired with another couple. We would give it a 5 star if they had better greens. They weren't awful but do need some love.

I cannot even begin to explain the beauty that is within this place. It’s like taking a step back into the 1970s but in the best way possible. You can tell that the craftsmanship, quality, and attention to detail was put into everything. The hotel has beautiful woodwork and stonework throughout. There are many incredible sculptures that add to the beauty as well. The acreage that everything sits on is well maintained and breathtaking. The hotel is right next to a river and our room had a river view! The hotel has a pool, sauna, game room (ping pong & pool), huge gym, exercise equipment, a golf course and tennis court. The property sits on the beautiful Black Lake which is very clean. They have kayak and bike rentals. There’s so many trails to explore. A campground to stay at. Cabins to rent. There is even a store on the property! I also love their policy that your vehicle has to be American made to enter. This place was built by the UAW. Let’s keep the American workers working!

I was pleasantly surprised at the accommodations of the conference center. We planned a group ATV trip for mid-September and my husband made reservations at the UAW Black Lake. The rooms albeit simple, were clean and comfortable. Keep in mind that this was built in the early 70's, so don't be surprised by a blue sink and toilet! The center has an indoor olympic size pool, ping pong and pool tables, tennis courts, campgrounds, canoe and kayak rentals and slips to dock your boat. There are large fireplaces throughout the facility, of which I can imagine would be quite warm and lovely on a cold winter's day. The only downside is that if you do not own an American made car you have to park outside of the facility grounds and wait for a shuttle bus to take you back. The buses run about every 10 minutes. But, get this... the UAW will loan you money to buy a foreign car. What?! All in all, if you are an outdoor enthusiast, I would highly recommend this place as your base camp.

The golf course, from the tips is 5 stars (7000 yards). That was fun! White tees would be too short for me (6400). Would suggest a little less pressure to finish 18 holes in 4.5 hours. People who drive 4 hours to play it want to enjoy the course not race through it. Only other issue was no beer cart on the course, Friday of Labor Day weekend. I will definitely be back.

UAW Black Lake Lodge and Conference Center was built back in 1972 and the interior reflects that time period replete with blue toilets and sinks in your room. However, the facility is maintained beautifully and the 1100 acres offers Northwoods lodging in several lodges, freestanding condos and apartment houses. There's even a Olympic swimming pool indoors and a full size gymnasium, pool tables, ping pong tables and a campground with full hookups. You can rent kayaks and even boat slips are available for visitors. While they advertise the availability of a restaurant and bar, be aware that those are only available when there are conferences on site. However there are restaurants 5 minutes away in Onaway or at the associated UAW golf course. The only downside, and it's a major one, is that they will not allow you to bring in a non-union-made car onto the grounds. Swear to God! You have to park it outside of the facility and they shuttle you a mile and a quarter to your room every single time you need to go to your car. It's amazing that the UAW Credit Union will lend you money to buy a Japanese car or any other non-union car but you're not allowed to park it on their property. Go figure. All in all, it's a wonderful facility. We would go again as there are plenty of outdoor activities including access to local ATV trails and hiking trails. In fact, this is one of the great undiscovered gems in the ATV world. The facility is located in between many, many miles of excellent ATV trails.

A beautiful, well kept golf course. The employees treat customers like royalty. We stayed for lunch and got the same good service. I didn't really enjoy much lunch but the others seemed to.
