Just had an 8 night stay at Red's. The camp ground is very nice, although relatively pricey for the campground its self. The owner himself, Red, is a wonderful person and I had the opportunity to speak with him for a little bit. I was concerned with all the 'rules' from other reviews, however it is a campground, and there are children. Be respectful, and drive slowly. That is what we did and we were not hassled once. We did not have any issues at the pool, however I did notice others have issues with children jumping in the pool.. not diving, just jumping and being kids. A seasonal camper scolded the children, that in my opinion were just being kids. I explained the rules to my kids, and they followed them and we have no issues. Just some rules such as no jumping into the pool, is slightly overboard. There are some nicer campgrounds within a half hour area, for the same price or cheaper. We tend to stay in the Rochester area for a week or two every year on our 8 week summer trip with the kids. Most likely, we will choose a different campground that provides a slightly better value.

Newer campground. Still a few things getting built but buildings and running a business take time which is understandable. Pool is kept clean and tidy. Plenty of activities to do on weekends. Rules are made to protect all guests. If you had a child riding a bike or walking you would want the speed limit being watched. Staff is friendly and very involved. The campground itself working its way to being great

Large buddy sites, wide open, need to level. Very accommodating for leaving our 38' motorhome for 7 days while we took a canal boat on the Erie Canal. Recommend the canal boat trip and this RV park. The personal here could not have been nicer.

Awesome family campground! Very friendly, attentive, and welcoming family-staff. Other campers were respectful, quiet (when supposed to be), and aware of kids. The pool is great for a toddler and the roads are all kid-friendly. If it were further east, we’d be back in no time! We came here for a wedding and had the best time of any wedding guest, far better than those who stayed in the overpriced hotels!

We've been to Red's now 4 times and we have had NONE of the bad experiences you'll see here. |EVERY time we've been there, Red and his wife came by at least once. To check on us and make sure everything is OK. If anybody knocked heads with the owners, they probably brought it on themselves!||If you read their rules they clearly state no OUTSIDE firewood or kindling. This is standard in NY to stop invasive insects. ||Speed limit? Yeah, kids running around having a good time! ||Yes, we WILL return!

The overall experience with the staff seemed fine. No one had any complaints in that regard. Since bringing outside wood in isn't allowed, even locally. (From what I'm aware i's generally banned bringing in from outside the county as far as the ash bores go.) The cost of wood does seem quite steep as most around the area sell for around $5.00 a bundle. I would suggest lowering the cost or increasing the bundle size. I would say there are some quality issues/inconsistencies with certain things: 1. Posted speed markers around the camp site say 3mph, whilst the printed maps indicate 5mph. 2. Store Open/Close hours. We arrived and upon mentioning that we'd be back to purchase wood, the store clerk said to come back before 8:00. I arrived at 6:45 to find the store closed. During the weekday, closing at 6:00 might be a reasonable time to close, though I might argue remaining open a little later perhaps to 7:00. On the weekends however, I feel it's unacceptable for the store to close anytime before 8:00. These are the ideal times when adults and/or kids are going to come in and perhaps buy ice cream or other goods. Even the opening hours seem rather late. Other campsites I've been to stores are generally open before 8:00. I'd recommend being open no later than 9:00 every day. 3. Tent sites. For the most part all of the sites looked pretty good. The tent/cabin sites honestly looked like they could use a little TLC. The cabins themselves, from what I could see seemed nice, but with no actual parking for vehicles leaving folks to pretty much park on the roadway and the access leading up to the cabin feeling more cluttered with weeds and bushes gave the impression of structures more haphazardly put in place. The tent sites seemed to vary in quality too. A couple open spots, one or two areas that were more weed infested with poison ivy and the ground itself not entirely ideal for tents. The open grassy area off to the rear/next to the massive wood pile seemed more ideal for tents to be honest. Atmosphere wise the area was nice. The owners clearly are working hard to try and provide things to do for people of all ages. Additionally they try their best to maintain a safe area, requiring gate passes for vehicles to enter the camping areas. Unfortunately it does reside extremely close a railway and freight trains are constantly passing by almost every hour. Not a huge issue but tent campers may not have a good night of things unless you are a sound sleeper. One of the wooden playground structures however in past years was very clearly unsafe, having been constructed by improper length screws causing said screws to extend beyond the wood making the play area rather unsafe. I do not know if this has ever been rectified as my kids are now too old to play on such things, but at the time I kept them from playing on it due to the unsafe state. Overall... it was an enjoyable time but definitely room for improvement in areas.

Stayed one night, pool and playground was nice. Office was closed when we got there at 5:30 and when we left at 09:40 which sucked because we wanted to buy some stuff but no big deal, while we were packing up to leave the owner decided at that time to cut the grass at our site even though all the campsites across from ours was emptied and needed mowed, there were probably at least 15 sites by us that were empty, the man was very rude and not only did he decide at 0930 to cut the grass at our campsite but also the other campers we were with and I noticed he did it to the other camper that left right before we left, my sister had called the campground to complain because there were small rocks hitting her camper and grass was going all over her stuff and the owner was very rude, we go camping all the time and never experienced such rudeness and never left a bad review with the hundreds of campgrounds we have been to, will not go there ever again,

I read the reviews before we stayed and it made me so nervous to stay and get in trouble because rules said they were very strict. We followed the post signs and rules we knew about and didn't have a single issue. So, don't be a trouble maker. 😉 There was construction going on by the pool. Not actively while we were there but the materials were there. Reasons I won't be back are the state of some of the playground equipment, not the old toys but the wooden set is leaning and then another set had one side roped off, along with whatever is going on with the one that looks like an old McDonald's play place. The views were beautiful. THE TRAIN. OMG. THE TRAIN. All night long 😅 the AC in our camper somewhat covered it but had we been in a tent I would've been woken up so many more times. Red was friendly. You can tell he tries for the kids. Lots of toys they can borrow and play with. Our campfire would've been right next to someone black tank drain had there been someone there. The grass on our site was pretty long and it was spikey weeds. The store prices especially for ice cream we're kinda high. I didn't check out the bathrooms. The kids train ride was out of commission for our trip as well.

This place is amazing. Hidden gem for sure. In town for a couple of days for work. Had not had any food all day long and needed something good to eat. Saw this place 8 minutes away past many restaurants and decided to give it a try. Sure glad I did.
