The room is very chic and the hotel itself is kinda hipster. Clean amenities and very kind staff. There's a wonky road to get in and the hotel entrance is on the side facing the road which we did not see at first. Kid friendly, pool table in the lobby and really cozy seating. HUGE snack stand at the counter, very warm pool area and nice little exercise room. They also have a unique pancake maker! You wave your hand and can watch it make you pancakes through the side of the machine. Delicious breakfast and a lovely stay

Clean, modern design, pool, gym, breakfast was great, staff was helpful and friendly. Last minute-middle of the night needed a room cause me mum was in the hospital nearby type of situation. Price was decent. Room had a huge tv. Nice shower. Convenient location. I enjoyed my stay...

Allow me tell you about the Tru Hotel in Duluth, a sanctuary for weary wanderers. It sits nestled, far from the madding crowd, where the only lullabies are the whispers of the wind through the pines. Cleanliness and comfort are its virtues; rooms pristine as a mountain stream, beds soft as a sunset kiss. The staff, like old friends, greet you with genuine warmth, making you feel right at home. This haven, though fairly new, resonates with a timeless charm. What sets it apart is its silence—a rare commodity these days. Far from the main road, it cradles you in a cocoon of tranquility, shielding you from the cacophony of the modern world. In the heart of nature, where every dawn brings new adventures, the Tru Hotel stands as a testament to hospitality, inviting you to rest your bones and rejuvenate your spirit. A true gem in the wilderness.

Minimalist living at premium prices. Our five-night stay at Tru in Duluth for work was enjoyable, but our room left a lot to be desired. The rooms are small and cramped and look like a cross between a college dorm room and a McDonald's playland: small with goofy furniture. We both managed to bust our shins on the sharp bed corners. I did it twice, and my wife did it once; she's way smarter than me! The "desk" is basically nothing more than a TV tray table. The bathroom was nice, but the shower corners were gross and needed cleaning. I've read that others had the same concern. What you DO NOT get in your pricey room: - You do not get a closet. - You do not get a dresser. - You do not get a luggage stand. - You do not get a microwave. - You do not get a coffee maker. What you DO get in your pricey room: You DO get the smallest fridge ever with no freezer section for freeze packs. Said fridge sits on the floor, and one practically needs a lighted miner's helmet while on hands and knees to see and access its "cavernous" interior. You DO get the absolute worst luggage carts on the planet. They are small (go figure), and they are triangle-shaped, which makes stacking luggage difficult. We had to pick up a couple of items that fell off en route to our room. They have hubs that grab every corner and door jamb because the rear wheels do not pivot like a normal hotel cart. The hubs may look small in the pic, but I swear the little buggers are magnetized to obstructions! Tru is definitely not comfortable for folks staying more than one night and traveling with suitcases vs backpacks (nothing against backpack folks). We'll pass on Tru for our next trip to Duluth or anywhere.

We stayed in the area for a hockey tournament and this hotel was perfect! Clean, easy to navigate, lots of breakfast options and an amazing pool for kids. Bryan was especially kind, knowledgeable and helpful! We would definitely stay again.

Ellis, the front desk person late at night was so kind and truly fascinating as a human being. I moved to Duluth 4 months ago after living 40 years in Texas. I have never met a kinder city in my life. Tru is a strikingly beautiful place, but i needed a larger room.

I wish I could give this hotel a 5 but the bathroom shower spills water onto the floor if you don’t point the shower head towards the wall, the cart is ridiculously badly designed, and there are no closets. Otherwise the rest of the hotel is nice and the location is convenient and close to most things in Duluth. It’s a new hotel hence the amenities are clean and not worn out. Overall the hotel is modern and stylish. They definitely have good technology; tv is decked out with good programming. The breakfast is a 6/10 if it was a restaurant but being that it’s free, I rate it 8/10. The staff is friendly and easy going. They have a pool table which is a nice way to pass time.

Positive: Great community area/breakfast area/lobby! Continental breakfast was great, too - hot eggs, meat, oatmeal, and pancakes were available, in addition to other sides. Would definitely stay here again! Negative: Bathroom lights were on a potentially broken motion sensor. We¿d be in the shower and the lights would turn off. Was unable to turn back on except by manually pushing the on/off switch. Maintenance crew was going to examine after we checked out.

Loved the play tonight at the Spirit of the North theater in the Boat House restaurant. The actors were really into their characters which made it even more enjoyable. Highly recommend it if you get the chance to go see them perform.
