Troutbeck is lovely place to getaway for the weekend. The main house is charming and offers several common areas to sit in front of a fire with a book or sip on a coffee or cocktail. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Our room (#11) was on the 3rd floor and if you don’t mind a few staircases, the room is spacious and charming. The soaker tub was a huge plus. The amenities are great. Crisp white sheets and fluffy towels. The restaurant is wonderful. We had breakfast and dinner. Both meals were very good and service was excellent.

We stayed at Troutbeck while visiting our daughter before Thanksgiving. We spent the night in room 6 -, we had an additional space with lounge chairs, a soaking tub and the view was to die for!! The staff was incredible from start to finish. We had breakfast in the hotel sunroom, met other guests and their sweet dog. Got a tour of the grounds. Then dinner. Dinner was so amazing! Kathleen was our server. She was delightful! Jason was our bartender for our after dinner drink. He was so personable, made us feel right at home. I can't say enough about this wonderful, historic resort. Amazing

We had an amazing dinner here... Can't speak much about the hotel but the lounge near the restaurant was comfy and romantic. Service was just good... But the food was outstanding! We haven't had a culinary experience like this even at two Michelin star restaurants. Very impressed and my hubby is a chef and he was so happy with all of our food.

Troutbeck is an incredible natural jewel with spacious varied grounds. Trees flowers birds and a stream that sings as it goes through the property. A warm cozy interior with several public rooms having fireplaces. The food is amazing and very seasonal. Dishes are inventive with complex flavors. But most special of all is the welcoming friendly staff who go above and beyond to take care of us.

If Troutbeck could be rated with 100 stars they’d easily get that from me. From the second we entered the building we were treated with the upmost amazing service, they truly made me feel like royalty. Not to mention the food…WOW! The combination of flavors in EVERY dish was delectable and heavenly . Our server Alecia was top notch and truly seemed happy to be there considering how busy they were which is rare and nice to see. She was spot on with her recommendations but I’m certain without her help we would have still enjoyed every bite. The food, the service, the rich history and the ambiance left us wanting more, we’re already planning our stay at this hotel as were in the Hudson valley quite frequently . I can’t wait to explore this property and of course more of what the chef has to offer

We stayed at Troutbeck for our anniversary weekend in December 2023. From the communication prior to check-in, to our arrival with a beautiful note and bottle of champagne in our room on arrival, to the attentive staff, fabulous cocktails and dinner and truly special ambiance and charm of the Inn, we had a magical weekend. Troutbeck manages to feel homey and relaxed while having a very elevated living and dining experience. It reminds me of a Hudson Valley Post Ranch Inn. We can't wait to come back!

Troutbeck offered a wonderful experience for our mini moon. Candidly, the people writing about their negative experiences are abhorrent (Emerson would be proud we used this word). There are other ways of voicing your feedback (perhaps writing a letter, as the writers who frequented this place, would have done?). ||Focusing on the positive:||The property is steeped in history and its charm is felt as you cross over the bridge of the Webatuck river approaching the main lodge. ||The staff, both front and back, were attentive, kind, and were knowledgeable about the property. They had a good grasp of activities on property as well as things to do in the neighboring communities. ||This time of year is wonderful. You can enjoy the surrounding areas and everything they offer. You would be remiss if you didn’t take advantage of the hiking, fishing, shopping, and general historical significance of the area. ||The restaurant serves a seasonal menu that is refined, yet approachable. The cauliflower is a must. The wine/cocktail list has something for everyone. ||The rooms are simple, comfortable, and well designed. Our room even had a framed letter signed by MLK Jr. (did I mention the history of this place yet?).||Whether you’re getting away from the city for a weekend or looking for a home base to explore this beautiful area, Troutbeck checks all of the boxes. |

This review is only about the restaurant at dinner. The restaurant was empty on a Friday night except for 2 other tables and whilst the space is elegant in a modern country style, it is not so warm and inviting. The food was mostly very good (in line with other top restaurants in the NY/CT vicinity) the service was friendly and efficient but why oh why would they charge $56 for scallops ?! Other dishes were similarly highly priced… one can only surmise that they do not wish to attract diners who are not hotel guests. Don’t let this stop you from going but be warned about the prices.

This was a fun side trip today. This little gem is tucked in a cute little town along side a rails to trails greenway. There are multiple floors of interesting art displayed by various artists. The view from the levels with windows is quite lovely.
