Tropics Ale House - Waikōloa - Pub in Waikoloa Village - 69-1022 Keana Pl, USA

A nice restaurant with good pub food. All the usual Hawaiian food. Indoor and outdoor tables. Easy parking. The crusty Mahi Mahi sandwich is excellent; just a light crust.

This place is an absolute JOKE of an establishment. Order their Steak and Mushroom APPETIZER, and after overcooking a rare steak, it took over 30 minutes to receive the replacement. During this time, our server made several trips to other tables while never visiting our table. It was only after I got up and went to him ( he says was cooking) that we got our rare steak appetizer about 7 minutes later. We then ordered a Meatzzza pizza as well. About to minutes later, he returns and says the oven needed to warm up and that the pizza would take a while. 25 minutes later, our server comes by and says the oven is down and pizzas were unable to be made. Do yourself a favor and skip this place all together. The prices are only slightly better than the resort restaurants but the service and quality are far superior. The atmosphere was electric but that had to do fans watching the game more so than the actual restaurant itself. Oh, and I haven’t even left the restaurant yet!

Great selection of beers. Food was not good. Ordered North Shore Garlic Shrimp. Menu said 16-20 shrimp. Came with 7. See attached pics. Was very dry breaded shrimp with no sauce and a huge pile of white rice. My wife ordered the Crispy Garlic Oyster sauce shrimp appetizer which was $8 less and the same as mine but without the rice and Mac and cheese. She had a bit of Oyster sauce sprinkled on hers but was still very dry. Not sure what the rice was for. I couldn’t eat a large pile of dry white rice. There was no sauce or anything with it. The Mac and Cheese was good. Waitress forgot my wife’s drink which is fine and happens. For the price much better options around.

We stopped in for Happy Hour around 2pm and ordered the Pork Nachos, Buffalo Wings, Kung Pao edamame, Mai Tais and Moscow Mules. We were seated immediately, our drinks arrived within 5 minutes and our food in less than 10 minutes. The nachos and edamame were delicious and the wings were a standout. The MaiTai was stellar and the Moscow Mule was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. We loved the beautiful views and the chill vibes. The food and drinks absolutely hit the spot. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area!

Came for happy hour and was not disappointed!! Great mai tais, sliders and some INSANE chicken wings (we got the spicy furikake and it was so good). Highly recommend and will be back!

Decent sports bar, so atmosphere was pretty good. Service was slow, but it was super busy (NFL playoff game) and only one server. Not her fault at all Kids food was fine. Fish tacos were awful. The fish had very clearly gone bad. It smelled bad when it arrived. I tried a bite, and immediately spat it out because it was so clearly off. Given how it smelled, I can't fathom how or why the cook thought it would be acceptable to cook, let alone serve. They did remove it from the bill, but didn't even say sorry.

After a beach day we were looking for easy comfortable dinner with a Pub like atmosphere close to our accommodations. The Tropics Ale House was great. Happy Hour menu had great prices and tasty offers, cheeseburgers sliders and pulled pork sliders fly out of the kitchen. The beer list is sure to have something to quench your thirst.. Over looking the putting green while you enjoy the place, the food and the full bar! Cheers!
