Travelodge by Wyndham Waukegan Gurnee - Hotel in Waukegan - 3633 N Lewis Ave, USA

I've travelled to 39 U.S. states and 13 countries; this was one of the worst lodgings I've endured: |-The halls/lobby are filthy and reek of cigarette smoke.|-Only offer 1 key card per room.|-They required a $20 cash deposit at check-in which was not expressed earlier over the phone or online|-The clerk killed a live fly during check-in.|-They offered no wifi password.|-Our towels were filthy.|-The bed comforter had stains.|-The room door was impossible to open without slamming into it with ones body. |-The TV remote batteries were dead.|-The bedsheets didn't fit the mattress.|The bathroom waste basket wasn't bagged.|-There was no "Do not Disturb" sign. (We made our own using a post-it.|-The coffee machine in the room was broken.|Their breakfast offer (offered on their site) is also no longer valid and was told "their website is inaccurate." |-They did have a coffee dispenser in the lobby, but without cups, so I requested some. The front clerk begrudgingly brought me back a single cup, which was covered in small worms. The coffee was also cold. I had to request the second cup. There was no apology, or verbal exchange- just an irritated clerk handing me a 2nd cup like I had done something wrong. |-Upon check-out, they had to physically inspect the room before returning their $20 cash deposit. This took time and made us late to depart. ||-One positive though; the bed was fine. ||... Still, this place isn't worth it.

Oof. Where do I start. We walked into the lobby, it smelled of terrible smoke. The ice maker was visibly dirty and off putting. After 15+ minutes we finally were checked in. We were pre-booked and even had the confirmation handy, no need for it to take that long. We got to our first room and it was a disaster. We booked a double queen room since there was three of us. The screen to the window was torn out, bed sheets were stained. Disgusting stains and trash out the ground. Clearly not vacuumed. The fridges had some sort of red sauce in them. Also the bathrooms were not wiped down! Hair was everywhere in the bathroom from the shower walls to on the floor. We went to the front office and they walked us to a new room. It was a room with only 2 full-size beds. There was no screen in the window. The wash clothes and towels were mangled and frayed. There was strange white drips in the chair and Some outlets didn’t work. It was terrible. Once we finally finished our trip they made us wait for them to check our room, which made no sense since they don’t clean them well. Anyways, would never recommend them to even an enemy. Travelodge definitely needs to look at this location.

The sheets and comforter had obviously not been washed and were covered in cigarette burns. The towels were yellow, thin, and fraying. The shower curtain was orange with mildew. The carpet was gross, discolored, and covered in debris. Most surfaces had stains or were sticky. The room stunk like BO and mildew. The ceiling downstairs was falling and had many water stains. The trash in the hallways had not been taken out. The staff was unpleasant.

The bed was comfortable and the desk clerk was polite and friendly. However, the bathroom was dirty! As soon as I walked into the room I looked in the bathroom. It clearly had not been cleaned. There was a bar of soap in the tub stuck under the drain, a wrapper from the soap by the toilet, what looked like eyelashes or curled hair or stitches was by the tub on the floor, there was toilet paper or Kleenex on the floor behind the door of the bathroom and in two spots on the bathroom walls it looked like splattered BM. I immediately went to the front desk with my photos and all he said was, "oh, they didn't clean it." When I asked about receiving a discount, he said he couldn't authorize only the manager could, but no manager was on site. So he gave me the hotel card. Back at my room I emailed the manager. This was Friday night, today is Monday and still no response from the manager. Do people beware, this hotel does not enforce cleaning the rooms and doesn't seem to care. I do not recommend staying here.

So dirty. Soiled and ripped furniture. Blood stains and mold on shower curtain. Bath towels stained and tattered, cigarette burns on blanket (non-smoking room), stains and rips on sheets, microwave broken, no coffee as listed in amenities, Breakfast area dirty and run down. Only a thermos of coffee, no cups, cream, or sugar. Just a lone thermos. RUDE staff. Cash deposit required, couldn't use my credit card, had to use ATM for an additional $5 in fees to add to my cost to stay at this filthy dump. Worst Wyndham hotel I have ever stayed at and I travel weekly for work. I used 7,500 of my Rewards points to stay here. So far not getting anywhere trying to retrieve those points.

I have stayed at some bad hotels... this is by far one of the worst.... I would rate it at a -3 star if I could... the only good in this hotel is that the beds are actually comfortable, and the staff is some what nice..... slow as hell but nice.... the smell is horrible, DIRTY! DIRTY! DIRTY!!!!!!!! But it is a place to sleep with a cold AC (just sleep on top of the covers!!!!)

Can't leave any stars. Booked and paid 3 months in advance. It looked totally run down. I was told when I checked in I needed to pay for my room still. I showed my confirmation number and receipt and he still wanted me to pay. ( Mind you not the incidentals amount I totally understand that he wanted me to pay for the room) When I called to talk to a manager "she* wanted to know what room I stayed in and I didn't stay in any. He wanted to charge me again. Was very rude.

We got in at about 10pm on Friday, we were put in a dirty room. Which was room 229. Sheets stained, floor un vacuumed and horribly stained. There was hair everywhere in the bathroom, fridge dirty and not wiped out. The light on the desk didn’t work and the screen to the exterior was half torn out. We were in this one for no more than 5 minutes and went to request a new one. The second room which was room 232. We were downsized to 2 full size beds. Still some stains on the bed. Window had no screens, strange white marks on the chair that look like semen, outlet by the right bed is broken and does not work. Floors were stained, but looked to be vacuumed. Mirror was very dirty. Towels and washcloths are stained and ragged as well.
