After a very long travel day, I made an unexpected stop and needed a responsible rate for my fur baby and myself. I called an a gentleman answer, he was so polite and helpful and score they would take my fur baby! I have to be honest I really didn't expect what I got. I figured it would be a typical lower end hotel. I was not. First I was literally in tears my day traveling was alot of unexpected. The lady at the desk was very nice. I immediately noticed how clean it was kept, even adding a nice e fragrance in the air. Got my keys , it took all of 5 minutes to check in. I get to my room,, Wood floors , nice furniture, bed was very comfortable, and the finishes used, I would compare to a higher priced hotel. I worked for Hilton for many years and have traveled alot! I was very satisfied! I highly recommend this budget friendly hotel.
Where to begin. The building is not secure…anyone can walk in any of the doors including the back ones. When you enter you are hit with a heavy smoke and air freshener smell with some musky basement smells mixed in. Many of the clientele done seem like guests but they they live here and maybe cook meth and/or deal out their rooms. One of the rooms by us had their door always cracked open which was odd and a bit unnerving. I didn’t want to touch any of the surfaces in the room. The only plus was the bed and pillows were comfortable. We tried to get two towels replaced but the maid only had one. There aren’t many options in Laporte, but I would only do this one as a last resort.
For an entry-level price point hotel, this was a great last-minute booking. The room and property were very clean. The bed was comfortable. Service was very good and friendly.
Positive: The only redeeming quality was the bed. It was fairly comfortable. Negative: This hotel is a total dive. Dirty, run down, paper thin walls, felt like all the Walmart weirdo's were staying at the hotel too. Oh, it's overpriced and a total rip off.
I had a four star review posted but I needed to edit it because around 8:30 in the morning housekeeping started to knock. They knocked at least every hour, which is ridiculous considering the checkout time is 11. People paid of sleep and for privacy, don’t bother your guests. I paid $81 for a single king. Overpriced. Carpet was sticky and mildewy. Room smelled like a wet dog who had a cigar smoking habit.
Lady at check in was very nice. The rooms have paint chipping, the towels are yellow and stained not one white one. The plug in the restroom didn't work. The breakfast was not breakfast.
Room was clean. Furniture was well worn. Breakfast was sparse. Front desk clerk was hard to understand. This motel seriously needs updating and remodeling. We only needed a one night stay, so we survived. I doubt that we would stay there again.
Quaint Cozy rooms. Cold breakfast. The owner is a real piece of work. Rented a 2 bed room for 2 nights, my sister-in-law came to drop something off to us, as soon as we let her in the room, the owner called the room yelling and saying"No guest, they leave now, I throw you out, no refund", when I went to the front desk to apologize, he kept talking over me and wouldn't let me speak.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Blue Heron Inn, while in the area visiting the Indiana Dunes National Park. It is located on the East shores of Pine Lake near the town of La Porte Indiana, only about a half hour drive from the park. We had a lake v
Kudos to the owners, management, and staff for a fantastic stay. Sometimes you just know, when you walk in the door, that it's going to be a good stay. Thus was one of those times. From the greeting to the friendly farewell and everything in-between

Love this place so much. Have only had the bubble teas but everyone I have tried is fantastic! The staff is very friendly and the art on the walls is beautiful. Definitely one of my favorite places in La Porte.
Really nice park. Huge lake and walking trail. Tried fishing for a few days and didn't catch anything. Lots of turtles though. Pine lake was better for fishing.
My FAVORITE pizza place in Indiana. Lotsa parking! Great bar! Both a family side and an all-adult bar side. Never a shortage of cheese on pizza! Italian beef and SALAD is fantastic too! They offer different soups everyday. And they deliver!
