Trail Break at Schroon Lake Dining & Lodging - American restaurant in Schroon Lake - 1299 US-9, USA

We had a large group and so we made reservations several days in advance. I understand that for a group of 20, expectations should be different. However that is why we called in advance and also promised to pay all in one bill, not separate. Despite our efforts, we had the slowest service ever. There was one waitress serving the entire restaurant, and it was her 4th day on the job. They excused the slow service with staffing issues, but that shouldn’t be my problem. The food was actually very good, although overpriced. We spent $1000 in one bill but it took us 3 hours to be served. It was exhausting. Not recommended for large groups.

Attended a celebration here and everything about this place was top notch friendly service, atmosphere, and food. Melissa and Gabby served the table and helped us organize the guest. Gabby helped us decorate with a smile ! The food was delicious and I mean every dish came out perfect. They even had a band and the singers voice was spot on. They made a an out of this world carrot cake too! Do not let the rustic Adirondack outside fool you! This place is a gem! The also have some quality craft beer at the bar !

Rustic restaurant. Made reservations. Ordered fried haddock with loaded potatoes and salad; broiled shrimp platter with potato and green beans, lobster bisque and whiskey sour. Bisque was ok. Only 2 small chunks of lobster. Shrimp was good, 8 out of 10. Haddock was good, potato was obviously under the heat lamp for a while. Salad was a salad. Best thing of the meal was the whiskey sour. Servers were working tirelessly but service was a bit slow. Overall an ok dinner. Not worth the cost. Probably will not be back.

Friendly people! Musicians playing by bar, quite enjoyable! Food was delicious! Bang bang shrimp..a must have! Salmon cooked perfectly, not dried out. Steaks were tender and cooked to right Temps!

Maggie our waitress was polite and efficient. We had the special app tonite which was an Elk Crostini….. excellent! Their root veggie curry is always delicious. I love the humble atmosphere with gourmet menu!! A real find in the ADKs.

Update: been here numerous times since the first review and have taken folks along with us and everyone agrees that the food and service is top notch! Seriously have never had a bad experience here. Latest photo is the prime rib special. Amazing! One great meal could be a fluke. Two… ok maybe they are that good. Three, wow ok this place is really good. Four… discussion over. Trail Break is the real deal. They never disappoint, they clearly care about the quality of the food and it shows. I ordered the Bang Bang shrimp appetizer and it was better than I expected. Super friendly staff and a great bar as well! Throw in one of the best beer and whiskey selections you’ll find anywhere near here and you have yourself a gem!

We love the food at Trail Break! This is the place to go for upscale quality food at fairly reasonable prices. The duck is fantastic, crispy, and flavorful, with a not too sweet orange sauce. The Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer is huge, delicious, and always spot on. I've also enjoyed the curry vegetable entrée. It's a bit spicy in a well-balanced way. The bar has a really good selection, too. The owner is friendly and helpful.
