We stayed at the Townsend Gateway Inn for four nights while attending a landscape photo class in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park at the peak of the Fall leave season. The Inn looks like an old-fashioned roadside motel in sleepy town but it far exceeded our expectations. It was super clean and comfortable with an excellent bed, bedclothes, and a good shower. It was simple, not at all upscale but we would stay there again on a trip the "quiet side of the Smokies." The friendly hosts (and owners) even provided a goodie bag of snacks.
After leaving Florida a day early for a business trip to Knoxville, we had stopped off in Townsend to find lodging for the evening. We had been on the road and awake for well over 24hrs and were extremely exhausted and was hoping to check in early. Keep in mind we just showed up without a reservation and were winging our day early trip knowing that it is leaf peeper season. The girl at the front desk immediately got on the phone to one of the owners and was able to pull it off for us! We were told to come back in a couple of hours and the room would be ready for us. We returned a half hour earlier then expected to and were greeted by one of the owners. The room was ready, the staff is so polite and the rooms are fantastic! Thanks for the exemplary service and room you provided for us at a moments notice!
It is located very near to Cades Cove scenic loop. Clean and affordable rooms. They had goodies for us on arrival. They took care of us good, the king room had an extra blanket and pillow, coffee mugs and glass cups. Overall value for money.
Staying seven nights at the Townsend Gateway Inn as part of an art event, and I am very impressed with the place. Super-clean rooms, excellent, hot shower; it’s not lavish, but it totally delivers. The daily housekeeping service beats that of what the likes of Hampton Inn, etc. provides. Highly recommend.
I had a better night sleeping in my car than here. The beds were so stiff my back was sore in the morning. The whole room was filled with broken and scuff marks. The bathroom made me feel nasty even after showering. The room had three TVs but two remotes. I tried the two remotes on every TV but neither one would turn on the third TV. When we first showed up the TV in the main room was on and playing MMA fights. This place is not at all worth the money to stay here. The room came with its own bugs; there are literally dead flies on the wall when I first entered the room. The parking lot is so tiny that trying to maneuver your car is near impossible. The best part is that only a select few rooms have been updated the rest are like grandma's house who never cleans. What's even better is that even if you lock the dead bolt in your room, if anyone has a copy of the key they can unlock the door completely and get in. On top of everything, when we called to bring some of these things up the guy working the front was rude through the whole call and acted like we were the cause of all pain in his life. Never staying here again.
Great Little Motor Inn type Motel. Very Clean & Rooms are as pictured on website. Love that they have a Recycling Bin near the Refreshment area & also in your room. Beekman 1802 are the toiletries, that I Love & use @ home!! Just overall a nice clean friendly place!!! This was our first visit & will be returning ! Didn’t use pool or any of the outside amenities they offer. But it would be a fun place to have fun & fellowship at the Motel!!
Great place asked for 2 nights. Liked it so much stayed 2 more nights. Staff was professional and did a great job maintaining the rooms. Questions asked were answered with positive comments. Would recommend this establishment with a 10 if I could.
We've stayed here with them for several years now. We usually get their dog friendly cottage, but it was already reserved, so we had a room with 2 queen beds.
Great place. She roasts her own coffee. Local person makes organic chess and fudge brownies. Yum! Places can be rented for the day for $20 with picnic table. Easy access to slow river. When we were there people had chairs in the river and had brought
One of the historic landmarks in Cades Cove is Tipton Place. Once owned by Revolutionary War Vet William âFighting Billyâ Tipton, this two-story cabin from the 1870s is a time capsule. It has a large double-pen corn crib, old-fashioned bee gums,
Primitive Baptist Church from 1827! This was my favorite church on the property, and the cemetery behind it offers some great exploration, as well. I would recommend trying to catch one of the lectures as it was incredibly informative, love that yo
Atmosphere/ambiance are ideal, staff outstanding, selection and quality of food stupendous. The Chef works minor miracles with top quality ingredients and the staff orchestrate unforgettable moments.
A nice place to get out and get hands on with trains and item's from the past. I didn't post pictures of the museum, not to mess up the surprise! The wonderful couple running the shop and museum are great. Don't forget to sign the guest book.
Trailhead Steak and Trout in Townsend, Tennessee, is a culinary haven offering a range of delightful dishes that truly impressed. The Thunderhead Potato Skins were an unexpected delightâa tantalizing surprise with raspberry jam, fresh spinach, and
