The hotel rooms were perfect along with the price. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. We would definitely stay here again if in the area .
We stayed one night at a TownePlace motel in Dubuque. A very nice place. The check in went fast and I had my choice of rooms and the front desk person was pleasant and knowledgeable. The room was sizeable with a king bed. It was the right firmness for me. Our room was extended-stay-room with a reasonably sized refrigerator, a two burner electric stove, sink and table settings. I used the fitness room and was impressed with the quality of the equipment. Only six pieces and a small number of weights but all appeared to be in good condition. The motel is in the center of town and near the river. There was a large full service grocery nearby if one was to stay for awhile. Even though the motel was not full the night we were there, I suspect it is fairly quiet. We did not hear anything once in our room. A good place to stay for one or several days.
Positive: Was convenient to the venue we were attending. Great to have elevator access for the handicapped guests. Negative: Seemed not to be able to get the room warm enough for my 93 year old father. We found an extra blanket. It would have been nice to have sliced bread available for toast for those unable to chew a bagel.
We stay here every time we are in dubuque. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and roomy. They have a nice selection of beers in the fridge at the front desk which is very convenient. The outdoor area is great. The best part though is the location - it's easy to get to and its right next to 7 Hills, and a very quick walk to Gary Dolphins and Backpocket. Great for a night out with drinks and not having to worry about driving or getting an Uber!
The management at this property was not helpful at all. We had to cancel our reservation last minute due to car trouble and they charged us $199.00 even though we tried explaining the situation to them they were very unprofessional and didn't want to hear about it. They simply said, "This is our policy can I assist you with anything else." I understand you have a policy but we had car trouble and had to cancel our reservation. We involved Marriott Customer Service and we were told we should not have been charged the $199 because we used a free night certificate. After multiple phone calls, we were told the case was closed and we won't receive a refund. Looking at the reviews and the experience we had I wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel. We have been with Marriott for over 30 years and never had an experience like this with any property. I would never consider this property in the future.
Theresa, the only reason we canceled was due to mechanical problems with my car. I spoke to two people on the phone and you were one of them that didn't want to listen to the reason we had to cancel last minute Alyssa cut me off mid-sentence saying "That's our policy, can I assist you any further." Again, we only canceled last minute because of car trouble and you could have considered that. I based my review on my interaction with you as the GM and your assistant.
I stay at this hotel 1-2 times per year since it opened in 2019. I prefer this hotel due to its location in the Millwork District, size of the room and I'm a Bonvoy member. Since the hotel opened, the condition of the rooms and hotel has deteriorated as they don't appear to be maintaining the property. Walking the halls, you'll notice the walls and doors are marred, scratched, and dirty. I've not encountered the loitering out front that others have commented on but I will say there frequently is no employee at the front desk. On my last stay, the coffee maker, outlets and tv did not work. When I called the front desk, they indicated the previous guest had also commented the tv wasn't working but they didn't repair and also didn't repair after my call. Given the very high weekend rates for a very basic room, this hotel is a poor value and I would recommend travelers seek other options.
Central location and free parking. Walking distance to pubs, restaurants etc. No cookies or complimentary coffee when we arrived at 6pm which we’ve come to expect at Marriott properties. Concerned to find complimentary earplugs by bed - uh oh. Trains run past hotel and honk their horns a lot BUT we heard them at 10pm then they woke us again at 7.00 am but heard nothing throughout the night but maybe because it was a Saturday? Breakfast had least choices we’ve ever had at a Marriott property and nothing wrapped to take away if you want breakfast in your room or on the go
We had a good experience at the hotel. The room that we originally received had an uncomfortable smell that probably came from the drains, and they immediately changed us to an upgraded room. The second room was actually much larger had no smell to it, and was perfectly clean. However the air extractor in the bathroom was non functional. In this particular property, you get a cleaning service in the room every other day, but they will do it daily if you ask. In fact, the cleaning lady did offer to clean our room every day. This is a relatively new hotel, and you can tell by the decor in the rooms and the facilities themselves. There are not many options in Dubuque Iowa to stay, but this is definitely a good one and across the street you have a variety of restaurants, facilities for entertainment and restaurants. So the location downtown is excellent. Overall we had a very good experience however for the money and considering that you were in a relatively small town, the facility appeared to be pricey. All our rooms were well over $200 a night, The breakfast leaves a lot to be desired for sure, and they really need to work on this; again for the price you would expect something better. The staff was great, and helpful. No issues there.
