Tommy's Restaurant - American restaurant in Hampton - 3406 W Mercury Blvd, USA

Tommy's is an incredible down home breakfast and lunch place. From what I understand, it's a local legend in Hampton. I have eaten here twice while in town for Supernova, and both experiences have been irreproachable and delicious. The place is usually full from open to close, but their hard-working staff flips the tables fast and gets you served with efficiency and friendliness. Tommy's is fantastic. From their breakfast food to their incredible seafood, you can't go wrong with any menu item. I can personally vouch for the eggs breakfasts, the fried catfish, and especially the heavenly shrimp and grits. Ohhh boy was that good. Loved it all and will certainly return anytime I am visiting the area!

Tried this place randomly for the first time last week. I was in Hampton for a football game and didn’t want to wait to get back to Virginia Beach to eat. The wait was fine, I thought it would take long but it didn’t. However, I ordered the steak breakfast meal they offered and my steak was recooked twice and still wasn’t right. When offered for my steak to be cooked again for a 3rd time, I politely declined. My daughter ordered a breakfast biscuit with turkey bacon and cheese eggs, she liked it ; my niece got the French toast and again, she liked it as well. Overall everything was okay, even with my food not being properly prepared. The manager made it right. The biggest turn off about this restaurant is that they don’t accept cards of any sort…. Debit/visa/Mastercard, NOTHING. It’s only cash or checks. This was a huge inconvenience for me due to me not carrying cash.

The place is not bad. Serving sizes are great. I’ve been here a few times so I know what I’m getting. However, my server Yvonne was just too impatient and rude. Idk if she thought calling me baby 25 times was going to cover up the fact that she was rude. Very nice to the table in front of me though. You could tell the difference. Very short with me on any thing I asked for when that’s literally your job to answer questions. I went this morning. And I ordered pancakes that never came .

Heard this place was good so I decided to take my family and I to try it. We assumed it was difficult to get in, but the wait was around 5 minutes. Took a decent amount of time for a server to actually come up and take our order. (Most people already had their food, and not that many others were coming in at the time.) Took around 10-20 minutes to get our order taken. Drinks were given to us then, along with our food, 15 minutes later. The food was okay. it felt like it wasn't worth the wait, considering how long we've been there. The time we had gotten our food, the place wasn't busy whatsoever. Most of us had lost our appetites because of the long wait. When we decided we wanted to leave, we had to wait 10 minutes for ANYONE to acknowledge us. Around another 10 minutes later, we finally got our check, and we're able to leave. Price was incredibly high considering the fact that we only ordered three small meals. ($80 🤦🏾‍♂️) If this is a concurrent thing, we will definitely not be coming back.. Hope my review helped. 🤷🏾

Breakfast like your grandmother would make! Do not miss an opportunity to eat here, the service is great and the food is even better. The price to portion ratio is outstanding, you get a ton of great food for a reasonable price. I will keep coming back and I highly recommend it!

This place is Beautiful! I love a diner…mom and pops vibe breakfast. Once I was recognized and seated, My waitress was great! My food though……my eggs were good but my grits, hash browns, and sausage were cold. My pancakes were ok…..I also order catfish but it came when I was done eating, had to get it to go. My catfish was fresh and really good. It’s quite a few servers y’all gotta find away to get the food out in a timely manner. Everything should be fresh!

THEY HAVE WON BEST BREAKFAST BACK TO BACK YEARS FOR A REASON! The food is good! THATS it the food is awesome. Have cash they only take cash. And if you’re dining in prepare to wait for a while. If you get my Favorite the 1/2 Fried chicken check it to make sure it’s all the way done.
