Spare of the moment fishing trip. We didn't catch anything due to not having brought our waders and proper gear. 1st time there so didn't know what to expect. Seen a lot of people carrying out huge salmon tho. Booked a campsite in the future to go back and have a better chance with an actual plan this time lol.
Overall it is way to crowded during salmon season. That being said it is a beautiful place loaded with salmon..and the local communities survive off of this fact. The state is trying to tear it down. It would ruin the economy and the property values if they do. And end 80 years of the impoundment. 😢.
My family has been fishing here for 20 years. They do a great job stocking the river. There is quite a bit of traffic so there is some litter but compared to the amount of people that pass through, people pick up after them selves pretty well. Use the bathroom before you go, people have pretty bad diets 😂
Fishing is phenomenal at tippy Dan. Adequate parking and restroom as well as a handicap assessable fishing pier.
Was a great place to fish, had so much fun.
It's very interesting to learn about the Dam. Took a walk down to the very bottom as a tourist. There are a LOT of steps. Be prepared for the hike up! It was very pretty and the sound of the water was calming.
Apparently this is a very popular fishing spot as there were anglers on either side of the river.
Its an attraction for fishermen. We met 2 DNR wildlife rangers surveying the fish. Really great, informative conversation. Scenic location, lots of stairs down... and back up from the parking lot.
ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING view and fly fishing area. Didn't come properly equipped, but you could walk a majority of the river in overalls. Even if you don't fish, simply being in this area is an amazing opportunity! Would recommend for fishing, pictures or just an overall appreciation for nature.
