Thurman's Food Factory, Inc. - Bakery and Cake Shop in Monroe - 1608 Stubbs Ave, USA

I had been a loyal customer of Thurman"s and i buy most of my birthday cakes and other sweets from them. This year was no exception. I decided to buy a carrot cake from Thurman's on 7/16/22 after sampling their carrot cake cupcakes in the past. I picked up the cake around 11:00am and immediately took it home to sample it. The cake was dark, the nuts were dark inside, unsweet, salty, hard, and not decorated well. It didn't taste like their cupcakes even though I was told prior the same mix is used for their cupcakes as their cakes. I contacted Thurman's that same day around 12 noon and spoke with two people before speaking to the owner Mr. Thurman. He advised me to bring the cake back. I took the cake back to Thurman's . The owner examine the cake, cut a slice, ate it and said there was nothing wrong with the cake, it was good cake. I asked for a refund , Mr. Thurman refused. He also didn't offer any options to correct the issue. It was too late to order one from another bakery that day so I had no cake on my birthday. No one ate it so it got trashed. I will not return to spend any of my hard earn money there.

This Was supposed to be a Strawberry Cake however it was only a red cake with NO STRAWBERRY FLAVOR OR STRAWBERRIES IN THE CAKE and the cream cheese frosting should have had some strawberries mixed in with it.. I called to discuss the problem with them, had to go through 2 people before Mr. Thurman got on the phone.. I discussed my frustration about the cake and his reply was it is a strawberry cake Bringing it back and HE WOULD LOOK AT IT, OK if I had taken it back’ with their attitude being the way it was on the phone It would be a waste of time…!!! All the people on the phone were argumentative and Mr. Thurman was very arrogant and hung up on me… I GUESS I DO NOT NEED TO SAY IT BUT, WE WILL NEVER EVER USE THURMAN’S FOOD FACTORY AGAIN.. With all that being said the cake was beautiful for a red cake with NO STRAWBERRIES A TOTAL WASTE OF MY MONEY $$$ AND TIME …

I ordered food from Thurmans before for parties, and this was the first that I have a complaint about the food here. Everything was good but the brisket was something that I have never eaten or taste. The brisket was embarrassing to my guest and when I called to tell the manager about the brisket he informed me that it was cooked that morning, which I doubt it! And taste like liver. Just to say never again!!! The next party we will not use Thurmans because of the managers attitude!!! And brisket! I pass and will find another catering company!

Excellent food variety... Some specific items were pricey.

Thurman's Food Factory & Gifts is an excellent shop if you are looking for something fast and good for lunch. Pick up an order of their daily special for lunch on the go, and you will not be disappointed. I am a red beans and rice fan and theirs is amazing. If you are hosting a party and need some great items, this is the place to find them. From cookies and sweet treats to house made cheese straws and crackers, you can find it all. When it is Mardi Gras season, this is the place to go for your fresh king cake.

Thurman's offers many different food choices. My only experience with their products involved the 1/2 sheet cake pictured here which feeds about 50 people. The cake was special ordered on Monday morning and ready for me to pick up by 3:45 on Thursday afternoon of the same week. It was ordered and served as part of Pre-K Graduation for my grandson. The cake was chocolate, actually more like devil's food than milk chocolate. The frosting was the lightest, most fluffy buttercream that I've ever eaten and combined with the cake to yield the best bakery cake I've eaten since my wedding cake 39 years ago. It appeared that everyone enjoyed it as there wasn't a single piece left to take home. If you want a cake covered in fondant, you won't find one at Thurman's but we certainly didn't miss it. The employees were very pleasant.

Good isn't bad usually but some days it's not the best just depends on what u like. Also the lunches are rather skimpy, as if they were prepared for a child. And $9 a plate is HIGH for the amount of food you get on your plate

My goodness! If you are in need of a cake, Thurman's is the way to go! Absolutely gorgeous and delicious!
