Thunderbird Lodge - Lodge in Mitchell - 1601 S Burr St, USA

I live in eastern Wisconsin near Lake Michigan and frequently travel to the Black Hills to see my parents. I typically stay at Club House Hotel in Sioux Falls as my half-way point, however, this time they were sold out because of 3 large events in the city. Club House room rates that I have paid through the years have ranged from $178 to $389 for one night. So, since they were full, I decided I'd drive a short distance further to Mitchell. Searching online for places to stay in Mitchell, I researched all the hotels, and the top rated place to stay is the Thunderbird Lodge according to hundreds of customer reviews on Tripadvisor and Google. I normally always stay at large chain hotels also across the country, so choosing a hotel with a privately owned hotel name was under hesitation, but the reviews were all great. I called Thunderbird Lodge for rates and availability and was quickly greeted by friendly staff to take my reservation. Arriving the location on my reservation date, I can say the Thunderbird Lodge was pleasantly just as impressive as all the reviews I read about it. I had a very clean, modern, and relaxing room with all the amenities of the large chain hotels. The Thunderbird Lodge representative named Andy at the front desk was amazing in his friendliness and professionalism making sure my stay was perfect. I had a quiet full-night's sleep. The value for the price I paid was amazing, and I was treated like a King!! I recommend the Thunderbird Lodge to anyone, I'll definitely be back in the future!!

I was very happy with room 27! Non-smoking, nice size, new carpet, clean sheets and towels, clean, and the best feature, USB ports for phone and additional charging items. ||The owner was a very nice person. We chatted a few times about the motel and area. Staff were polite. ||Breakfast was good. I especially liked the waffles. Fresh apple and oranges. ||It’s a good place to stay, right off the highway, near food and gas and very good price. ||I’ll be back in the area next year, I’ll go back and stay. ||It may not be a 4 or 5 star motel, not yet:) but it was good enough to write this review. ||Rhonda

The best we could have asked for in this price range! The room and breakfast area were clean and well maintained and the food was as expected. The people working were all very friendly and helpful! It's not fancy in any way but the place is obviously cared for and we'll look forward to staying again if we're in the area.

Had a great experience onroute to Rapid City. Was worried about the quality of the hotel based on the pricing and apparent age. However, after reading reviews, decided to take a chance as it was over $100 less expensive than the large chain hotels near by. Glad we did. Check-in was easy, staff was friendly, breakfast was good. Rooms and bathrooms were nice and clean. Breakfast room is small, and not set up for lingering. Picnic tables are available for when the weather is nice. Only concern was the room AC had a tough time cooling the whole room given it was 100 degrees outside when we arrived. Still, AC did blow cold and the room did cool off, it was just challenged given the external temp. We were having care issues and they recommended a mechanic. . Would definitely stay again

If you want a no frills bed, breakfast, tv, good water pressure at a reasonable price this place is for you! They even offer alcoholic beverages and laundry on property. If your gonna complain about the dusty carpet, having to figure out the AC, or the fact that the freezer needs to be defrosted then this place is not for you! The young lady who checked us in was friendly and helpful. We also had property in the bed of our truck and it was not bothered.

Very nice motel. The owner is making great leaps forward to update the interior. The staff was courteous and helpful. The breakfast was adequate. I did not take advantage of the hot tub or sauna but it looked great. I would definitely stay there again.

My room was spacious and clean, and I enjoyed its massage recliner. Checking and checkout were friendly and efficient. I appreciated that the breakfast room has a waffle maker and warm syrup dispenser, although that room is quite small. If they had trays, it would probably be best to take you breakfast back to your room.

This hotel was very clean and the service was great. Our room was very clean. The hallway needs to be updated. We where told that they are working on it. It is a no frills hotel but we where not looking for anything but clean to spend a night. We would stay here again if ever in the area.
