This is such a beautiful overlook. I wouldn’t say it’s the best place to see a sunrise (why we originally went, we saw good sunrise reviews), but it’s still an amazing view. The kids loved it too. It’s a great overlook to stop by if you’re in the Blowing Rock area! You can also carefully cross the road (Blue Ridge Parkway) to get another view of the area. I included a picture of that so you can see the parking lot from that location. Gorgeous! :)
Beautiful place to take in the sunrise. Lots of people there on a Saturday morning though.
When people talk about excellent Blue Ridge Parkway views this is one of those places. You can see so incredibly far and get a wonderful idea of what the blue ridges are. It is a close drive from both Blowing Rock and Boone. There are better views but none so close to large towns in this area. If you want a hike as well look back at the fence line and you will see a break to the left. Hike up for about 15 minutes and you will find yourself in a gorgeous mountain side field. This area is close to the Mountain to Sea Trail so there are turnoffs that one could camp near fruit trees and bushes. Be aware you can find better views and less busy places than this overlook but it will take a hike or more time to drive on the parkway. Enjoy the view and relax with a fold out chair here across the road where it raises slightly.
A Beautiful spot for Sunrise that overlooks the mountains. I went in late October and it was 8 degrees windchill. dress accordingly.
We searched for this overlook at mile marker 290 and we were not disappointed! Best view of the trip!
Great spot for a sunrise...so I've been told. A little tricky to find from the main roads, but doable. Even with heavy fog, I still had a great experience. I spotted a really cool Falcon only an arms length from my face and had an incredible talk with God for a solid hour... these are wonderful memories
This was a wonderful overlook with an amazing view of the High Country. We decided to see the sunrise from here and it did not dissapoint. The overlook was easy to get into, was well marked, and parking was fine at 6AM. There was also wildlife in the area. Be prepared for a stunning stop over when you visit here.
Amazing views, decent parking. Great spot to catch a sunrise or those fall colors. If you walk along the road for 100 yards (to your left if looking at the view) there is a small path that leads to another good vantage.
Come here for lunch and some vintage vinyl hunting! They have delicious food with VERY reasonable prices, and the owners are very welcoming and friendly! We saw that they had a vinyl collection and we were able to find great options at VERY reasonabl
Came here multiple times after a drive on the blue ridge parkway. I haven't ever had a good experience with coffee from a coffee truck, but I was pleasantly surprised. Every drink me and my boyfriend tried was amazing! And the price was also really g
Booked the kids course for my 7 and 4 year old along with companion tickets for me and my boyfriend. We all had a blast! I loved that we were able to repeat the course as many times as we wanted to within our time from. My 7 yr old was scared at firs
Great views! Peaceful. Parking area and a sidewalk to capture stunning views. My photos are doing this area a disservice because the place is gorgeous. There are little cut out areas to capture different views of the area (not shown on my photos). Th
This inn is fantastic and perfectly located in downtown Blowing Rock. The evening reception and morning breakfast are wonderful! My wife is from the south and she declares they have the best grits. She is not a morning person and she makes sure she g
I loved here!! The crepes, coffee and service. At the beginning we thought that it was closed bc looked like that but when push the door and opened was an alivio en serio tenÃa ganas de crepas. Recomiendo the Brie and banana foster, and my fav chai
Def not wheelchair accessible so send in a friend...worth the hassle, I promise. Been living off of weak, "necessity" coffee for the past 2.5 days. Nice to finally have found a place that does right by actual cocoa beans and that has some kick. Kaysi
My 9 yr old was overwhelmed with excitement! I must say I was too. I recommend a 5pm or 6pm train ride so you can see everything before or after the train ride. There was so much to see!!! We went in December and had a WONDERFUL time!!! Make sure you
Cute little coffee shop. Loved the dark drip coffee and the barista was spot-on describing the flavor - love going to coffee shops that really know coffee. I also tried the blueberry scone and it wasn't my favorite - it appeared homemade (bonus for
