Rude front desk staff had empty rooms I was a single needing 1 bed 1 night non smoking wouldn't consider at 11 pm giving me a double nonsmoking at a single rate. Wasn't going to cost him a penny. In fact not giving me the room likely resulted in the room not being sold at all that night it was a Monday not a heavy motel traffic night took my business elsewhere. I recommend the James River Inn Jefferson Ave. Newport News

Nice. Clean. Ac worked every day that I lived there for 3 1/2 months until I moved, & got a place. They are cheap, which cannot possibly beat about 400/475 for a week! The housekeeper was always nice. The front desk people were always nice, & smiling.

I was there for 2 months it was not that bad the owners where realy nice they fix any problems i had with the room it was cheat too. But i hate that they let prostitute walk around the hotel asking mans for service i was out side with my bf and a nasty ass old lady came to us and ask if we wanted service.

I was scared to stay there but can't judge a book by its cover its clean if not good enough they will definitely do anything to make happy very peaceful at times could use better pillows but worth a stay or two

It's okay the owners they decent people once you get to know him I get Penny and Js Js much credit that place and come along way since they took it over and fix it up they really invested in that place and trying to make a decent place to stay I'm proud of both of them Jay and Miss penny.

I went in to book a room, the sign said 35 dollars bUT when I went in she said the cheapest room they had was 50 plus a 10 dollar deposit and I said that's not what the sign says and she said the sign was old.... she refused to show me the room prior to booking it and said that her son cleans the rooms, um I don't care I want to see it first. But basically do not stay here go to the super 8 right beside it. Thrift inn is dirty, it smells moldy and they try to overcharge for that run down roach motel... DON'T DO IT!!

The front desk clerk Pierre was amazing, nice,very helpful and very polite...He helped with all of my questions and concerns...The room was very clean...I will definitely stay there again when i am in Newport news again...

While it looks nice at first glance and the operator was helpful I did find bed bugs and the sockets well the few there are don't work well
