The Woods is a magical place to get away! We rented a cabin and the rental came with golf passes and lake access. In addition to those treats, The Woods has an amazing spa, restaurant and sports center. We're sure there was more to enjoy and discover, but sadly our trip came to an end. But not before a wonderful moonlit walk through the forest and the most peaceful sounds and surroundings!
We were staying here at a VRBO which was very nice as our new home was yet to be moved into. We enjoyed the entire stay until the last day of our stay and we went to take our dog for walk. The VRBO backed to the 17th hole. The back yard of the VRBO is where we were walking our dog (10 years old, rescue Lab). We continued up towards the other homes outside their fenced in yards. Ahead of us up the hill was a man and woman teeing off so we moved closer to the tree line to avoid being hit by a stray golf ball as they do come close to the homes. The next thing we knew some crazy old lady ranting while driving a golf cart came straight at myself, my husband and our dog. She continued ranting and barely missed our dog then turned around again and aimed at us again which we then took off running. She barely missed hitting our dogs leg a second time. Then they drove up to our VRBO where her husband came up to the property ranting and yelling at my husband. We called 911 and the police came and took our information and a witness from a neighbor saw the same thing. Funny thing is she stopped the police officer at the club house and tried to say our dog attached her and she never got out of the golf cart. We still are considering legal action against this woman. Attempted assault by golf cart. Beware. The HOA needs to take action against this woman and her husband by banning them from the golf course!!!
The hospitality at the restaurant was exceptional. We were welcomed and felt at home. The services at the spa exceeded expectations.
Love the Woods! A hidden gem for a winter girls spa weekend! Just visited for 3rd time! Perfect cottage for 8! 4 bedrooms w/private bath. Very spacious & walk to spa! Great customer service! Great time with great friends. Will be back!💕
I stayed in August 2020 in one of the Meadow houses. Their website is a bit dated and lacks good quality photos, however the place is beautiful. It's an easy drive from the DMV area. The Meadow house is a simple layout with a big porch with patio set to seat 10. This was much appreciated in the era of COVID and staying outside. It did have a small charcoal grill in the front lawn. The house had 4 rooms, 2 on each side, all identical. It was very clean and I appreciate the large bathroom with two lights and a vent. The living room furniture isn't that comfortable but doable. It has a dining room table that can comfortably seat 8 and a small kitchen bar with 2 stools. There's also a small desk in the area that we used as our drinks bar. Full size refrigerator and oven. The houses are well spaced but it is the country so sound travels. Across the way was a men's getaway for NFL fantasy football draft and we could hear their laughter and loud conversation but nothing that kept us up. The nearby pool is for HOA members only so you have to drive over a mile away to the other pool - but this pool has a great view of the mountainside! We didn't do any walking of the nearby recreation area or try to use the sports facilities. Overall, it was a great visit at a great price for us to getaway.
Family friendly, top notch staff that is totally customer oriented, and 2 great courses. One an executive 18 for beginners and high handicappers, the other a legitimate scenic challenge, worth a day trip from dc area or a long weekend. Pro shop and grill staff treat you like a club member, grill food is delicious, could not ask for more. Also Big 4 BR cabins for a perfect family or friends getaway.
We used the pool but the golf course appeared well groomed and peaceful. Great woodsy backdrop. Pool was Iarge and clean with attentive lifeguards and pool chairs were sanitized. Water was a bit cold.
It's a little piece of heaven! A home away from home. The golf course are nice and there is three catch and release fishing ponds. There is a spa with a nail salon and hair salon. There us also an indoor pool as well as a gym. Of course you have to be a member or a guest of a member to be able to use these facilities.
