The William A. Clark "Copper King" Mansion - Featured Reviews (282)
Went on a tour of this historic home now BNB.
The tour was okay. More performance than anything I’d prefer more history and answers to questions than a walking performance.
I find it interesting they charge $20 for this tour even though they are a functioning BNB. The other historical homes do not charge or charge significantly less.
The original home and fixtures are so interesting, the added art and not from this home antiquities are, in my opinion over done and too chaotic to justify their existence in the home. I feel that all of it looks like clutter. Even tho time appropriate it far too much and distracts from the unique history of the actual items that remain in the home. Overall kinda worth it but I think such a high price would
Lead many families to not go.
Spent the night, took the tour, and bought the book. Being from New England we are familiar with Newport's "Guilded Age" history. WA Clark was as wealthy as Rockafeller and was the West's contribution to the 1890's and the uber-extravagant Guilded Age This is where WA Clark started. The history, accomodations and staff was 5 star.
Really enjoyed our tour of this home with a knowledgeable, ineresting and humorous guide. Highly recommend!
My favorite thing I did while in Butte! Very knowledgeable tour guide! Absolutely beautiful mansion where they allow you to touch almost all aspects. So many unique pieces of furniture!
Tour guide even recommended the drive up to the M, which I would have never known to do, and there were absolutely stunning views of all of Butte!
Great tour! They also offer a bed & breakfast.
Beautiful from the outside. Couldn't get in... You have to make a reservation 1 or 2 days in advance and the latest tour time is at 4pm. It's $20 for the tour
Fantastic house museum and B&B. Late 19th century home of Sen. William Clark with period furnishings. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed the tour. Highly recommended.
Took the tour with a member if the family that owns the house and he did great as the guide! The tour is about an hour long (has stairs to climb) with lots in very unique turn of the century aspects. I've been through a lot of old houses and saw things here I've never seen. No expense was spared at the time of its building and those quality features remain impressive to this day. Lilacs are in bloom the 3rd week of June. Adds beauty all over town!
