The resort itself is top notch , especially the pools complete with waterfalls and splash pad for younger kids. The beach is really nice , the water is clear and warm. Unlike a lot of resorts, you can actually walk to tons of restaurants and stores nearby (Whalers Village) , so you have more options. Plus it’s a short drive to Honolua Bay and other great beaches to the north

I loved this resort so much! The pool was so nice, the slide was so fun, and the chairs by the pool were out of this world comfortable! One complaint I do have is that I wish there were at least two more chairs on the balcony, because many times my family and I would want to sit out there and we would have to drag chairs from inside. The beach is right outside of the hotel which is super nice! There are barbecues, pickle ball/ tennis courts, and a shuffle board! There is a beautiful trail going along all of the hotels and the ocean that you can walk in the morning! The kids absolutely loved the Pina coladas! There is amazing snorkeling right outside the hotel!!!! Amazing greenery as well! All in all this was an amazing trip!

This would have been a great family vacation if our room had not been located directly over the loading dock and trash vacilities. Paid extra to stay in the Hokupa'a tower looking out at Black Rock and Whaler's Village. Did NOT expect trash pick up at 4:30 a.m. 3 out of the 4 days and 6 a.m. delivery trucks every morning. Otherwise a very family oriented hotel, great pool facilities and good places to dine. Would have given 5 stars.

Even though this resort wasn't perfect, I felt it deserved 5 stars because there were so many great things that we loved!||Even though the rooms are on the smaller size, there is lots of storage space and they are laid out well. We not only had room for all of our luggage, but all of the bags of purchases we had. We liked the little sofa and table to eat at, a nice desk/workspace, and plenty of drawers. The bed was comfortable, and appreciated the sink and closet being outside of the toilet/shower area. There is also a good sized mini fridge and we loved the little surprises like lavender sleep oil and robes.||The location is a real standout here. It does get crowded in the lobby and the property, as it is right next to Whaler's Village, a shopping center with restaurants, shops, and a food court. It was really convenient being just steps from all of this and not having to drive or worry about parking. There is also an ABC store in the shopping center for anything you forgot. Just so convenient, but probably not the property if you want more solitude.||There are a myriad of bars and restaurants on property/within steps. Not sure which ones were Westin and which ones were independent, but great selections for drinks, grab n go, sit down meals, etc. The bar was so pretty and extended out to the beach walk. They usually had musicians nightly, my fave was the Hawaiian music.||This property has the best pools around...I think there are 6 total and 2 are adult only, where we hung out all the time. Stunning views of the ocean from the adult pools as it is on the upper tier. The sand bottom pool is amazing just to hang out in with a drink and both pools were calm and quiet. There is a kiddie pool with a slide and waterpark kind of atmosphere and then 3 family pools...all with rock waterfalls, caves, grottos, slides, etc. ||The service was great everywhere on property...front desk, housekeeping, doormen, bar & restaurants.||Be sure to visit the spa...not only amazing services (try the lomi lomi massage), but a great little patio/pool to relax in after your service. You also get a complimentary mimosa with your choice of fruit juices.||Just to note: self parking is in the structure next door is about $40/day. The only other choice is to valet park. I also felt the website was not comprehensive and a little user unfriendly. I don't think the website shows all the great details about this hotel and definitely not the spa. They really need to update this.

Great resort! They have many pools, one of them with a slide and one just for adults. Clean resort a lot of options, it's a walking distance from the shopping village which has shops and restaurants! of course beautiful clean beach! We had a great vacation! Thank you

Highly recommend for families with young kids! The baby pool and slide were awesome. Beach access was easy. Restaurants and hotel service was great and friendly. Lots of food options at the hotel. More options right next door at whaler’s village.

Booking: If you are booking through a 3rd party, RUN FOR THE HILLS. They do not care what level Marriott member you are, they only see “3rd Party” next to your reservation. It doesn’t matter what 3rd party company either (AAA, Capital One, Chase, etc…). And with that comes the worst service I have ever witnessed at any Marriott resort I have been to over the last two decades. I was on a family trip, we had a significant credit through a 3rd Party, so we booked it. My Brother’s family, Sister’s, and Parent’s booked through Marriott as I would have if we didn’t have a credit to burn… it was so wild that we started testing the front desk. Myself or wife would go ask for something. We|We’re also polite and understanding. Took their answer with a smile. Sometimes asking a follow up. But we always received, “Sorry, we don’t offer this/that/whatever” or “that isn’t available” … then my brother/sister/mom would go ask for the same thing. Didn’t even get through the ask before it was done for them. We did this 4times. One of the asks was for body wash that was left out of our shower until we cornered house keeping for one the second to last day of our trip (we bought our own from the ABC store because we were told no). If you are booking through Marriott, do it. beautiful resort, cold pool but on a summer day it’s perfect. They will take care of you if you book through Marriott and have a minimum status level (my sister is only silver and was treated well). I am gold, and well it didn’t matter… it says “3rd party” on the reservation. They do not care about how much business you bring to them throughout the year, or that you use their CC, or that you purposely have your company book through Marriott because of your experience prior… nope, they might has well have just called me “Mr. 3rd Party”. Marriott leadership truly needs to intervene, I read reviews but didn’t believe it was that bad. Surely they appreciate Marriott members that have status regardless of the booking for one trip… THEY DO NOT. It really is that bad. We even offered 200k points to upgrade from our tiny room… “nothing is available. sorry, Mr. 3rd Party”||Rooms: if you are traveling with more than two bags, DO NOT BOOK A STANDARD ROOM. pay extra. You will be stepping over luggage the entire stay. The standard rooms are tiny. Like, “wow, I wonder if I can lay across the beds and touch both walls” tiny. Upgraded rooms looked phenomenal. I know this because my Silver Elite sister asked for an upgrade from the same standard room about 8 minutes after we did… we were told nothing is available. She was put in a bigger room. It was nice and worth it.||Grounds/pool: Perfect. Again, if you are booking through Marriott, DO IT! Place is beautiful.||Beach: Perfect. This Marriott charges for everything, so buy beach chair/beach blanket at target or Costco. Then pay it forward by giving it to a guest checking in if you are able. Be kind and Make someone’s day.|Queue the Automated Response “darn, we’ll try harder next time”

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience and it hasn’t even been a full day yet. ||I had emailed the resort a couple months prior to my trip to let them know that I will be coming with my two kids and husband to celebrate my daughter’s first birthday and if they do anything special for it (which every hotel I’ve stayed at has always done something nice). They emailed back saying that they have acknowledged it and noted both of our kids names down. We also requested for an updated room since it seems like they were going through renovations and what not and they said they will make note of that! We are also Marriott bonvoy members and booked through them! We were hoping to get a decent service at least! |||When we got there - We asked for a possible upgrade but they said that they don’t have any available at the moment so we let that go. The kids were irritated from the long travel and we were hungry. ||When we checked in - the room was so underwhelming. Very small rooms and pretty outdated. Did not give us a microwave either when we had requested for it two months ago. We needed it to warm up our kids milk. They are little so it was a must for us when booking a hotel. ||When we were unpacking, two of the drawers had clothes in them from previous clients! One had men’s underwear and the other had a bunch of women’s clothing. They obviously did not thoroughly clean the room! We had booked the superior room with high floor and ocean view - the view was breathtaking to say the least. We went down to complain about it and all they offered was for someone to come and claim the clothes. We told them that we wanted a different room that has been properly cleaned and would like an upgraded room as well. They decided to finally move us to the “ luxury” tour but when we looked at the view, it was the view of a parking lot! I originally paid for an ocean view which our old room had and decided to move back to that room and gave up on trying to make them understand since we had a long day of travel of over 12 hours! We originally wanted to order takeout and bring it to the room but we did not want to stay in here hoping they would change the room but the whole process was just terrible so we ended up dining at the restaurant in the hotel with two very tired and cranky kids. ||Their website also said they had a supervised kids club which is one of the reasons we booked it but when we got here they no longer had it! I really wish we had booked a different hotel at this point. Our entire moods have been super off because of our experience with them.
