The Waterman Fish Bar LKN - Restaurant in Cornelius - 9615 Bailey Rd, USA

My wife and a friend of ours went to lunch today and we were pleasantly surprised the atmosphere is very nice. It’s a clean restaurant excellent service really good fried haddock, and North Carolina trout and even the burger was good. The fries were tasty The clam chowder was to die for, we will definitely come back here again.

The food was very flavorful and delicious! The cocktails were awesome! I loved the outdoor seating in a very casual setting! The only reason for the 4 stars is that the cook came outside in his gloves and apron, and started a conversation with guests. He then used his apron to let himself back in. That’s a no no. Maybe he was going to use the same gloves which is why he didn’t take them off? I had already received my food, but it made me wonder how sanitary he was behind the scenes. The manager was there and the cook looked very comfortable doing this. Food safety is very important no matter how good it is. This is location is fairly new so they need to be a bit more careful.

We have been to Waterman Fish Bar multiple times and I do think this is a good restaurant. The staff in Huntersville is very good and provides great service! The food is solid but nothing stands out. It is very good but just normal. I will go back, but more for lunch, where again, better than average but not unique.

Finally had the opportunity to experience The Waterman for my birthday and it did not disappoint! The service was exceptionally well and all the staff was friendly. The food was really solid all around. I really enjoyed the pieces of lobster hidden in the daily catch and the rice was nice and tasty. The mussels were amazing and the drinks were really good! I probably shouldn’t have gotten the chocolate in a jar but hey it was my birthday. Definitely will be back again!

We enjoyed a 5 Star experience. The Waterman got everything right for us tonight. Late meal with the Bride. She had a Lobster Roll with fries. Lobster was perfect fries were ok. I had fish taco and a shrimp taco. The fish taco had very sweet onions and toppings. Good but too sweet. Fish was good. Also had shrimp taco. This is the bomb. Fantastic flavors made me want only shrimp tacos next time. Shared a key lime tart. Crumbly crust. Super dense drizzled in caramel a lime zest. FANTASTIC!!!

My wife and I grew up in Connecticut. I went to school in Maine. So we both ordered the lobster roll Maine style ,with fries and a side of calamari. The calamari were over cooked and burnt. The lobster tasted like it had been frozen then thawed. It was mushy. The fries were good. I ordered a shipwreck Mary which was also good. A lobster roll is not a hard thing to cook. Very disappointed, I should have sent the meal back. I saw someone send back the calamari as I was paying my bill. We are traveling from Ohio to Florida I don't know if we will stop here on our way back. This place generally got good reviews. Don't know if this was an off night.

Updated review…scroll down ⬇️ We came in for an early dinner after a swim at the pool. We were in the mood for seafood & The Waterman Fish Bar is exactly what we were craving! Something about this place just feels right. I like the decor (bright) & tasteful. If you’re concerned about eating inside, they’ve got good outdoor seating options. Check out their menu online and visit them the next time you are in the Huntersville area. I enjoyed sampling some small Plates. (Pictured) I really enjoyed the ceviche. PS I want to give a shout out to Dani and Maverick. Update: 03/12/23 I was in the mood for oysters so we popped in. Ashley, our server, was so sweet! We decided on the Delaware Wilds oysters, Ceviche and the Lobster Shrimp Canoes. The creole flavoring gives the canoes a bit of a kick. My husband always preps the oysters by taking the condiments & lemon and spreading them over the oysters. My favorite item on the menu just may be the oysters! As we were settling up. We noticed the people next to us topped off their dinner with the Beignet Bites. So I asked Billy, the manager and he made sure we got the chance to try this dessert. I describe it as like being at a carnival. you break into that beignet that is covered in cinnamon & this cream oozes out and you dip it in to the caramel and wow! Both my husband and I loved it! Update: popped in July 23 for a quick bite. Husband had the fish & I had the wedge salad. Always a nice time, people aim to please at The Waterman Fish Bar LKN. We’ll be back to dine again, soon.

Let’s start out by giving a huge shout out to Joe! Fantastic bartender! I only gave it 4 stars out of 5 because the quality of the oysters did not match the price in my opinion. Everyone’s opinion is different. I got the second option which a dozen was right under $50 - I will say I would rather spend that money on so many other choices. Now I love oysters don’t get me wrong. I just don’t believe in spending money on food that isn’t worth the quality, we’re they bad ? No. They were still good just not 50 dollars good. The calamari is a major hit every time. The sweet chili and aioli is but a dream especially when you mix them together. The drinks were all on point. I loved the boat flight! I also took a picture of the brunch menu because I plan to try brunch out soon!
