The Victoria Skylar Bed and Breakfast - Featured Reviews (5)
I stayed at the beautiful Victoria Skylar Bed & Breakfast over Valentines day weekend. They had a fabulous romance package that included champagne, a dozen roses and godiva chocolates. The Syklar room was beautiful and spotless with a super comfy bed, beautiful crystal chandelier and fireplace. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, some of the best food I have ever eaten. The Victoria Skylar B&B is also in a remarkable location right near the water. Its close enough to town to walk but also far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet. I will definitely be staying here again and highly recommend it to anyone who will be visiting the area. Whether you are just looking to get away for a few nights or celebrating a special occasion; The Vicotria Skylar Bed & Breakfast is the place to stay.
I am not usually a B&B person, in part because I prefer locations with gyms and spas. But my friend Jasmine has been going to the Newport Jazz Festival and staying at the Victoria Skylar for the past 14 years, so I stayed there with her this year and last. And, I liked it so much I got my mother a gift certificate to stay there for her 80th birthday. ||Its a small establish with only 4 bedrooms, and like my friend Jazz, a lot of the patrons return every year. So much so that our humble hosts, Ann and Derrick explained that they are not getting new reviews on trip advisor so their ranking has dropped and they were unable to maintain their certificate of excellence.||The hosts want you to enjoy their quaint Victorian themed home and have paid special attention to the details. The rooms have chocolates, wine and fresh flowers. And there is a small refrigerator in the hall with snacks and water. The front porch with wicker rocking chairs and the garden in back are lovely. This year and last, we sat out and sipped our wine. Plus, it's only a 5 minute ride down the backroad to the central wharf area in town. With advanced notice for festival weekends, the hosts get the tickets for you at a discount. ||Anne was formerly a chef and serves beautifully arrayed, hearty three course breakfasts which is great given that the Fort Adams has yet to pick up on the foodie truck trend serving up carnival food instead.||At the special rate for returning customers, I shared a room for two nights bed and breakfast including a one day festival ticket and paid a total of $305 (a very good deal for a festival weekend stay.
This was our first trip to Rhode Island and the Victoria Skylar. We were there to tour the mansions and celebrate our best friends' 30th wedding anniversary. The Inn was so charming and comfortable - we couldn't have asked for a better experience!! Ann and Derek were wonderful hosts and I cannot say enough about Ann's cooking skills! Every breakfast was fantastic and more than enough to get us all the way to dinner time most days. During our three day stay the breakfast table was set with different linens, china and stemware each time. Fresh flowers were everywhere, including our rooms, as well as wine and chocolates. And, the Inn was extremely clean - which sometimes is not the case in B & Bs with a lot of antique furniture and accessories! I would not hesitate to recommend the Victoria Skylar and we hope someday to return!
I've stayed at the Victoria Skylar a few times, and each time was fantastic. The bed and breakfast is gorgeous and is in a great location; away from all the noise so can enjoy a relaxing vacation, but not too far away, so can walk into town and enjoy everything that Newport has to offer. The beds are extremely comfortable and I always have the best night sleep. I have also had the BEST food i have ever eaten... ever, Ann is an amazing cook! If you are planning a trip to Newport, Rhode Island I would most definitely recommend that you stay at the Victoria Skylar!!!!
I can't say enough nice things about the Victoria Skylar. My kids had stayed here previously and recommended it. Everything was top notch - from the decor to the lavish breakfasts! We enjoyed it all. Plus the location was great. We walked to the shops during the day and used Uber to get around in the evening(super cheap!) The car stayed in the driveway and was only used to go to the beach. We are thinking of user Uber next time to avoid the hassle of parking especially on the weekend. The hosts, Ann & Derek, couldn't be nicer. Ann is an excellent chef and Derek very personable, providing lots of tidbits of information and recommendations! Also, the discount for returning guests is a big plus. We will definitely be returning next year.
From beginning to end, this B&B surpassed our expectations. Ann and Derek were wonderful hosts. The breakfasts were several courses and elaborate with lots of fruit and a multitude of different coffee and teas. They were also very considerate about my wife's diet restrictions.|Our room was large and comfortable and had very comfortable and tasteful furniture. |We both highly recommend this B&B for its location, authenticity and charm.
This was our 2nd stay at The Victoria Skylar. It was a nice 2 day getaway. This place is a gem with its gorgeous garden, quiet atmosphere and gracious hosts Anne and Derek. Enjoyed being by the water and touring the mansions in Newport. Will repeat our visit there in the near future. Love the breakfast there.
We arrived on a Thursday and stayed till Monday during the July 4th weekend. It was an anniversary trip for my husband and me. The location is close enough to walk to the tourist attractions near the wharf, but far enough away so that it is a quiet spot. The home and gardens were charming. Breakfast was at 9 am so we only made it to breakfast two out of the four mornings. We slept in one day and left early to tour on another day. Luckily there were some yummy scones to get us out the door on the day we left early and some scones on the day we slept in. However the two full breakfasts were amazing. There was enough food that we could have skipped lunch. There was always a bowl of apples and a fridge of cold drinks you could choose from as well as a bottle of wine in the room for us and some chocolates, too. The couple was friendly and cared to serve their clients well. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable, hence the sleeping in.
Perfect place to stay in Newport. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Wes who was welcoming and informative about the Lodge and surrounding area. The bed was comfortable and the room was charming. Breakfast was delicious. Coffee, teas, and a v
Nicely crafted bracelets, love the fit and the clasp they use. Very durable. And love the designs! They were helpful and held a specific color and size for me when the new shipment came in. Conveniently on the last day of my trip! I did overhear a gi
This bed and breakfast is an absolute must stay in Newport. It's adorable, clean, and cozy. Walking distance to the beach and the bars, but far enough that you can sleep soundly. Serena, the inn keeper is the sweetest person you'll ever meet. She tru
