The Velveteen Speakeasy - Cocktail bar in Stillwater - 123 2nd St N, USA

This is a cozy place. All the drinks we tried were really good. The bartender was nice and helpful. We came when they opened so there was no themed music playing, kind of sucked. But the time was still enjoyable! A perfect place for a small date night. Would love to come back and see some live music here one weekend.

This place is awesome! We came here after having dinner down the road. The cocktails were phenomenal and our waitress was so bubbly and kind! I especially liked how all the cocktails were clearly defined and explained. I am excited to come back to try the food - everything sounded amazing! Thank you for such a nice nightcap on our Saturday evening!

Took about 10 min for a host to come seat us then we had the rudest server.. My husband ordered a drink (aviation which is a gin drink that’s typically fairly spirit forward) and it was pure sugar. After one sip we told her something was off and asked for a different drink and she argued with us then finally got us a new/different drink. We got the tab and she left the bad drink on there and again argued with us when we questioned it. It was the maybe the worst bar experience we have ever had. The live music and vibe of the place was cool but everything else was beyond disappointing. We also noticed two other tables saying the same thing about the service.

Classic speakeasy vibes and great drinks here! Service was efficient and friendly too. I really appreciate that they have mocktail options on the menu. I can’t find a list of mocktails on their website, but I ordered a drink called something like “the odery”. It was sweet and spicy and quite refreshing. The ambiance was lovely, and I liked how spacious it was. It was pretty quiet when we got there, but I can imagine the vibes are impeccable when the room is buzzing and live music is happening. I’d love to come back when it’s busier.

Nice little place for a drink. Service was quick and drinks were good and strong. Didn't have any food, so I can't rate on that.

I really love this bar and have for years, but recent downgrades to the menu have made it less of a destination in my mind. There use to be a fairly good variety of craft and classic cocktail options with things unique only to this bar but now with only a few different options to choose from and elimination of previous favorites I find it to not be as unique as it used to be. Still a nice atmosphere and a cozy place to grab a quick drink but I can't see myself going quite as often because the variety isn't there anymore. Additionally, I had a party of three and made a reservation but when we arrived on time we still had to stand and wait for 25 min even though open tables were available at the time. Not sure if this was a one off issue or something needs to change with the reservation policy so just beware that even a reservation didn't guarantee a spot!

Great cocktails, good use to be better wish I could add 5 stars to it but they've downgraded the menu from a few years ago. You won't be disappointed with what ever you order, service is stellar, drinks are made by a mixologist. It's all in all a great date night place if looking for something different, relaxing and where you can have a conversation.

This place is unique. Awesome atmosphere, drinks are horrible. They didnt have much of a selection. Some may think the drinks are tasty but we definitely did not. See for yourself, be worth the short walk from the main drag area.
