This club is great, the staff is so welcoming & encouraging. I do aerobics with Deb, just amazing. Have met new friends. Joe C got me on the rowing machine. Tomorrow I am trying workout class. All because of the encouragement of staff. A huge thank you!
I have been swimming at the Vanderbilt Club for many, many years. I have lost count! The structure is a canvas bubble; in the summer the top comes off for an open air environment. In the Fall, Winter and Spring, the bubble is on to keep the heat in and the air temperature comfortable. Before 2020, the owner replaced the opaque canvas wall along the parking lot with with a new one with windows and a double door for increased light and ventilation. There is one heating unit in the facility and it is located over the deep end of the pool. There is a fan in the top center - the peak - on the cement wall side that draws and circulates the air. In the winter months, many of the participants wear neoprene to stay warm. We all have different body temperatures and different comfort levels. The pool water and the hot tub water are both tested frequently and often for the communities' safety. All of our Water Instructors are wonderful! We are blessed to have them! Regarding the windows on the parking lot side. Yes; they do slide open. Some people are comfortable having them open and others are not. Since we are a diverse community, body temperature varies from person to person and some are hot and some are cold. Some of the participants wear neoprene and some do not. There could be a draft if one window is open and the others aren't as the air flow could be drawn to that location depending on the temperature outside. I respect all of the members of our community and the different health challenges we all navigate. Communication with the instructors and members of the classes helps meet the goals and needs of all swimmers. The pool is my happy place!
During the winter months the ventilation system for the pool is inadequate and the fan does not consistently work. As a person with asthma and trouble breathing the pool chemicals, I requested to crack one window open approx 2" in the back corner of where I take an aqua class for approx 45 minutes in the morning. For the past year and half it half it was understood and the teachers and other class members all knew and took no issue with it. Until today where I was first told it was "about too much heat" being let out and now another email that "it creates fog and a safety issue." This is not a welcoming environment for all unless you are in the "clique." It was a simple accommodation for a very short period of time. Disappointing.
Apart from my issues with the faculty and lackluster management, I would like to praise aqua instructor Britt for her excellent classes, she's extremely deliberate in her class delivery and modifications for all levels.
I loved this gym. I was working in the area for 8 months, and have since gone home, but I actually enjoyed going there!
It’s much larger than it looks from the outside. There’s a Women‘s only workout studio, too. And a pool that is covered in winter.
Yes. It‘s older, but it’s clean and doesn’t smell!! There was always plenty of equipment to use as well.
The front desk attendants were pleasant and helpful. I also had the best trainer ever - Joe Conti. He was completely understanding about my various physical issues and limitations. His workouts were careful and intuitive, and ranged from working out in the pool to floor exercises and stretches, to using the machines, weights, and tension bands. I cannot speak highly enough of him.
If I lived permanently in the area, this would have been my gym of choice forever. I already miss it!
We love the swim lessons for our children. The ratio of only two children per instructor is great for the kids.
I recently joined The Vanderbilt Club and I love it. The staff and instructors are friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and show that they really care and want you to succeed. The members are very welcoming as well. I’ve always heard wonderful things about the Club and now I know it’s true.
Post "COVID immobilization", my knees were shot and I was carrying too much unnecessary extra weight... Def needing to find a new cool health-focused environment/outlet that offers a variety of 'knee-friendly' work out options, and specifically a pool. The jacuzzi is a total added plus.
Look no further as the Vanderbilt Club is all about this and offers more!
The humans that run the club and all of the trainers are highly educated in specific health/body work who are amazingly supportive, fun, and caring energy that promotes me to go almost every day of the week.
Shout outs to owner, Sue, and her staff Mike, Michelle, Margie, Mary, and Jimmy who make my arrival/departure super fun, and honestly, the fact that I like seeing them provides accountability which I need. And more shout outs to my trainer, Bryant Lane, fellow trainers, Julie & Joe, and class leads, Sharon & Kelly, who just rock and motivate me.
The Vanderbilt Club feels like I have a new fun family who gives me positive vibes in getting back to healthy and mobilized living.
I truly love going on a daily-basis and feel all the positive results of my GOATA-focused trainer, Bryant Lane, whom I work with weekly in tandem while also going to the Pilates, Yoga, and Stretch Classes. Bryant's energy mirrors that of the Club's overall vibe of feeling welcomed, supported, pushed, but never body or knee shamed. Like ever. Best trainer I've had and I've had many.
The Vanderbilt has brought a much needed life improvement to our lives as our whole family can go which also is a win-win.
I finally feel like I'm getting my body and mobility back, and yes I'm putting in the work but it's all about my surroundings and positive constructive energy that I gravitate towards.
Highly recommend.
Best gym around!!! Best classes many different choices, great instructors!!!! Sue Young (owner) is awesome always adding classes!!! Thank you for everything you do for us!!! Today’s spin class was amazing!!!
