After seeing The Tipsy Butler featured on Chronicle, we decided to extend my husband's mid-August birthday celebration to include a two night stay at this incredible B&B. Whereas, we have spent much time in Maine during our years together, this was our first time in the Newcastle/Damariscotta area and the Inn and surroundings did not disappoint. We felt like family from the minute that we walked in the door. The Inn was beautifully maintained and decorated and our room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed Stephanie's delicious locally-sourced breakfasts, hopped in the sauna after a long day of hiking and exploring the area, and had cocktails on the front porch before heading into town for dinner . We loved the attention to detail, from the fully stocked dining area to the charging cords at each bedside lamp. These wonderful hosts have thought of everything to make their guests feel truly pampered and we are already looking forward to a return visit!
Lovely Victorian Inn with such warm and friendly hosts! Steph’s filling breakfasts are delicious! The seasonal decorations were beautiful. Thank you for making me feel so welcome in your home away from my home!
I only have good things to say of the Tipsy Butler. It was an enjoyable stay with excellent service. The time and effort invested in crafting the experience shows in every step.||This old house, beautifully restored, is well located in a quiet but accessible street. We stayed in the Prachett room which was large, clean, and came with a claw-footed iron cast tub. There was also a shower, and a closet with a refrigerator and coffee maker. Flat panel TV and Alexa were provided but we didn't have occasion to use them. ||Breakfast was luxurious. In fact we had to ask that the portions be reduced which was a shame because the food was quite tasty. It starts with a small plate of carbs and continues with a large plate of eggs, vegetables, and in our case, a quiche. ||I've included photos of the remarkable breakfast.||At last count there were three cats and one dog, who stay on the family side of the house or outside. They are friendly and quite sociable.||
Stephanie was the perfect host; Personable and friendly. We would stay again just to have the amazing breakfast! The inn is in a great location and very charming. Highly recommend for a long weekend.
We had a great stay at “The Butler” as my 5yo calls it. The rooms are large with everything you could need. Chargers, plush towels/bathrobes, air filter systems in each room, and on and on. The beds and bedding are amazing, so comfy. The breakfasts were so delicious and locally sourced. The owners took great care with dietary restrictions, which was so kind. The Inn is family friendly, we had our 2 children with us and still felt it to be relaxing and quiet. All in all it’s a great place to stay to explore all that mid coast Maine has to offer!
The Tipsy Butler was the perfect home base from which to explore all of Damariscotta and the surrounding area! Stephanie was a gracious host and cooked us some of the best breakfasts we've had. You will not be needing lunch (though it's hard to turn down local oysters!) after breakfast at the Tipsy Butler. A very easy walk into downtown Damariscotta (where vehicle traffic can get jammed up) and all the amazing bars, restaurants, and art galleries that the town has to offer. Can't wait to visit again!
What a relaxing and well appointed room! We stayed in the Wodehouse room with the king size bed on the first floor. The bed was very comfortable and huge - no problem stretching out. The bathroom and walk through closet area were roomy as well. We loved the creative and delicious breakfasts and the beverage fridge in the dining area. Be sure to check it out. The fridge is stocked with beers and wines at good prices - something to drink after a day out exploring. Thank you, Stephanie, for your suggestions of things to do in the area. It was nice to meet your family and pets. The location is also great. Walk to town in a few minutes or a quick drive.
A delightful experience with kind and attentive hosts. My room was incredibly comfortable and provided a soothing oasis for rest and relaxation. This BnB is close to town allowing guests to take an evening stroll along the Main Street of the village for dinner or to explore the many shops. Definitely stay here for your next visit to Newcastle/Damariscotta.
