I would rate The Tell as an average accommodation. The Tell is in a renovated building and has about 4-6 units of varying sizes. The studio room was clean and the basic studio kitchen (fridge, microwave, Keurig Maxwell house) was as expected. The room was small and bathroom very small but updated with IKEA type fixtures. The balcony only had one chair. There are no common areas and no amenities except for loaned beach umbrellas and chairs which we appreciated. We saw no beach towels. The office is not staffed for check in but messages were sent on email and a manager answered the phone. The ladies who cleaned and maintained the small hotel/condo were very kind and helpful. They were truly the highlight of the facility. If you have mobility issues, there are steep narrow stairs to the second floor units and no elevator. In summary, this is basic affordable accommodation less than a block from the boardwalk and beach. |The best food we ate was at the Blue Wave restaurant- very fresh and “home cooked” on site.

We stayed in room 203 on a promotion. The room was beautiful and had what you would need for a weekend at the beach. If you need service they are off site and you have a number to call. Our television was not working no matter what we tried. The "Operations Manager" was rude and nasty and told me I did not know how to use the tv. He said he would walk us through it again when we were back in the room, he never took another call from either of us and we called over 20 times in the course of 3 days, we also had a luke warm low pressure shower and since nobody ever answered the phone we had to just deal with it, then the door lock for the room that is keyless was beeping and saying low battery. We have the same type lock at our home and know you will be locked out when the battery dies. Nobody ever answered the phone after the first 2 calls so we took a chance and left the door open since we were worried we would be locked out with nobody answering our calls. We had our reservation company try to call and they also did not get an answer. We were hoping to come back with our friends and rent for a week next year but it is concerning that in an emergency or even with a question nobody cared enough to answer a call.

Booked a room here after our cruise. An hour after we booked and as we were on the way we got a call that they were overbooked and they would not have a room for us. Whoever we talked to stated we would get our refund back in 30 minutes. I asked what were we supposed to do if we didn’t get the money back because we needed to book a different room as we were already on the way and he stated “just wait longer”. I would recommend calling them directly after to confirm they actually have a room for you to stay.

Of all the vacations I've taken, staying at The Tel is by far my most memorable. Private access, quiet, clean, and out of the way. You truly would not know this place existed unless you've done research, which is just the way I like it. Modern amenities, ample space for an extended stay and private off-street parking allow for a safe and secure feeling. I want to tell my friends, but I don't at the same time because I'd like it to feel exclusive at my next stay. Thank you for having me.

Pros: 40 steps from beach Cons: no lights on outside of building so check in when it's light or it's super creepy. 25 stairs that are STEEP AF just to get to room! I would have never stayed had one known I had to pull my luggage this steep stairs...and then back down. Found blonde hairs on the nicely folded wash cloths and I do not have blonde hair. The floor was filthy....like it hadn't been swept in 2 months. Weird closet....like a 2' x 10' that took up half the room that no one probably uses. Don't get me started on the shower....tried to get too fancy and was a bust. Super tiny room and no where to sit but one chair that takes up most of the room.

Our stay at The Tel was exceptional. The contemporary interior design added a touch of elegance to our beachside experience. Its close proximity to Hollywood beach made it a breeze to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf. Ideal for those looking for a stylish and convenient getaway.

Quirky to bad... But in a good spot and could improve markedly by cleaning up some loose ends and refining a couple things. First and foremost... The beds... Mattress is decent, but on what forsaken planet are these box springs or coverings from? They are loud behind belief. I legitimately didn't think beds could be so loud just by sitting or simply rolling over on the bed, no matter how gently. I'm fairly sure most people who go to a hotel are interested in a good night's sleep, which typically necessitates quiet. Even earplugs didn't help it was so loud. Little details otherwise add up to a mediocre experience. Master bedside lamp not plugged in, no outlet nearby to reach. Couldn't find bedding for futon and called customer service number to get some. Said they would ask housekeeping (who were on site at the time literally on the other side of a door from us). 2+ hours later still nothing. Called back and then told to look in the ottoman under the TV where we found the stuff. Now... We had opened all cabinets and obvious potential storage spots looking before we contacted the hotel. There was no telling this was a storage ottoman. Put a little placard on the futon saying "bedding located in bla bla bla". Living room TV is set up differently than master TV and for the life of us we couldn't configure live TV in the living room despite trying to copy master TV. Remotes didn't work to change channel at all, but somehow could change input... So strange. Consider a mini guide on how to operate. We had no idea the hotel would supply beach chairs and towels. Very kind, but we ended up spending money with another service to rent beach chairs and equipment when we didn't need to. The ceiling fixtures are fascinating but are brighter than the sun and have no dimmer! Freaking hurt our eyes when we turned it on the first time. Speaking of light... need some better black out curtains around the place, especially ANY curtains in over the sink where a mega floodlight from a nearby building bathes the kitchen in a heavy glow which spills over into where the futon is. Speaking of futon... good lord that thing is uncomfortable. Trying to sit on it to watch some TV was a painful experience. I don't think it provided a comfy sleep either. An actual, mattress-based futon would be more comfortable and still properly boutique-ey. It's a boutique place... I get that means quirks... but if the beds don't provide a quiet, good night's sleep, it turns the whole thing sour.
