This is the best beach in the area we tried while on our vacation! It was clean and the sand was so soft! We loved our morning here playing in the ocean and sand! They had a life guard on dirty so it made us feel a lot better about choosing this beach again!
Although i wasn't actually on the pier because it's still being rebuilt after the hurricane years ago. It's coming along great. Great beaches.

12/22 - 4/23 Surfside Beach SC pier is really coming along. It weathered a few storms this year already. The buildings are apparently 80% complete outside and the actual pier foundations look good. Work is being completed on the piling down on the ocean end. Still lots to do but could be done and open during the summer. Pretty positive outlook since the last interruption in November.
Closed! Thanks to Hurricane Matthew in 2016 the pier was damaged and closed. Now Surf Diner has officially closed, a sign posted for “pier construction.” Four years later and there may be hope. We live in the Surfside Beach area and enjoy Surfside Pier and the beach around it. A parking lot offers pay per hour parking, more updated bathrooms and ample amount of beautiful sand, sunshine and waves. Atmosphere is family friendly and the neighborhood offers a number of eateries within walking distance. River City Cafe is right there on the beach.
