The Suites Hotel at Waterfront Plaza - Featured Reviews (1115)
We booked the hotel for my sons wedding and had to argue with the "manager" when booking to get the rate quoted the bride and groom. The room was an "inside" room of this unique hotel meaning we did not have any windows, which we were fine with, and the room was a very good size. It stayed pitch black which was great for sleeping in and the kiddos slept great too ;) We had multiple people and children in our room changing and getting ready so a huge room was fantastic. When we got to our room after check in they were still cleaning it so we walked in on the cleaning people. We just dropped our bags and went to get a drink so it wasn't a big deal as they were almost finished. When we got back to the room the supervisor was going around inspecting the rooms which I also appreciated. She had someone bring us more towels, three was NOT going to be enough, for the bathroom and they came right away. Ryder and Jocelyn were FANTASTIC at check in and check out. We had parking validation to deal with and they were very helpful and super nice. All around excellent experience with those two!!! We did have key card issues but Ryder helped us with that too.
This is an interesting hotel with a great location. It is clearly a repurposed industrial building so the rooms are unconventional. Ours was large and had plenty of room for a family but the lack of windows is a drawback. The room was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I was grateful to find a hotel in the area that allows dogs (there aren't many, apparently) but I would suggest if you allow dogs, you should have a dog walk area close to a door so guests don't have to walk across a large sketchy parking lot next to a canal in the dark just to find a small patch of grass for a dog to relieve itself. Other than that, we liked the place.
The last time I stayed here was 7 years ago & I recall it being a pretty nice place to stay. I stay in quite a few hotels throughout the year for work, and this was one of the most disappointing stays that I've had in a while. It was definitely not up to a "nice" hotel standard. It wasn't as clean as a quality hotel would be for the price that you pay and staff weren't as friendly as you would expect. It would've been nice if the front desk would've explained where you could park and I'm guessing there was parking in the back of the hotel and you would need a voucher as the lot is a pay lot, There was a sign in the lobby for a voucher but it didn't say it was for parking so it was just a guess on my part. The breakfast staff were not the friendliest either. The more mature woman was a little friendlier than the younger one. On the day the younger gal was there, there were not any cups out by the milk or juice. You had to go grab the ones by the coffee bar around the corner. Only one side of the milk machine worked, and the juice machine was broken for a couple of days. I could not find where the breakfast times nor the pool times were posted. They were not posted in the room or on the website. There were also not very many towels in the room, and you do not get turn down service every day. The room was very spacious, which was nice and it was fairly clean but not hotel clean. The hotel itself is in a very good location where you can walk just about anywhere conveniently.
Do not stay here if you like windows. Yes, we paid $300 per night for a windowless room. Our room seemed to be located in the middle row of the building and completely lacked windows to the outside world. When we asked at the desk about this the clerk suggested that next time we make sure we ask if our room has windows. I can honestly say I have never considered this before.
Aside from that issue the overall quality felt low and the room had a strange musty smell. Lots of wall gouges, various damage to the fixtures, and grody carpet. Our room also had a large support column (painted orange) in the dead center of everything. It reminded me of a Super 8 I once stayed in, except even that room had a window.
Absolutely not worth what they are charging.
In Duluth for my birthday weekend. Really happy with our room, our view and how close it is to everything. We were greeted by a very helpful and courteous guest service gal named Maria. She took the time to answer all of our questions and helped us feel right at home. Will definitely be back.
Five of us (all sisters) get to Duluth at least twice a year, sometimes more. Because there is 5 of us, we definitely want comfort. The Suites have always been able to accommodate us in their large condo suites. Always enjoyed the complimentary breakfasts, staff and their location over the years. We just had a recent stay this week, and had an unfortunate issue with the main shower not draining. Maria helped us at the front desk with our issue. I must say Maria was professional, warm and kind, and listened with compassion. Just wanted to say thank you again Maria. 👍😊
This was our second time at the Suites Hotel. Considering that the cost to stay in the Canal Park area is usually pretty high, this hotel is in my opinion the best value for your money. Breakfast was pretty good, the pool area was nice, I enjoyed the kitchenette option. Staff was friendly. Is it the fanciest, no, but it has been solid and reliable, and when visiting Duluth is never cheap, this makes it a little bit more accessible.
I was going to rate this 1 star because the room given did not match my reservation. We usually stay here annually. I had reserved a 2 King Condo back in February through their website, but upon arrival was given a 1 King Suite. My original reservation still showed up on their website, but did not match what they had in their system.
But the people working at the front desk were able to help make the best of a bad situation. Maria (maybe Marie?) was especially helpful in reaching fair compensation.
The rooms themselves are nice enough and didn't seem as dirty as some previous reviews. The bedroom itself had only a single AC vent and no fan, so it was a little warm. The kitchen was stocked with all the cooking utensils we needed.
We had an incredible stay and loved that it was in the heart of the Lincoln Park neighborhood - there were lots of shopping and breweries within close walking distance. The room itself was amazing, very spacious and stylish and we felt right at home.

Oh my gosh.....the Speakeasy Suite is a DREAM! The bathroom is beyond amazing and it is the nicest room I have ever stayed in. The mansion is beautiful and well cared for. There is no doubt we will be back again and again. Love this place - A+++
Hostel du nord is the place to be! Wonderfully welcoming employees. These guys smile the brightest and hug the warmest. Always know which direction to point you in for good food. Rooms are always clean. And workers are always in the mood for a great
My wife and I stayed here for 1 night. We're locals. This place blew us away. We were in one of their Junior Suite King Bed Bay View rooms. It's not a "fancy" hotel, but it was very clean and well maintained. It has so many little touches that show t
Wild State Cider has so many delicious options to choose from! Hands down one of my top favorite cidery. So delicious! I didn't try them but they also have a variety of THC infused beverages if that's more your thing!
