Amazing place to stay. The owners were so accommodating and helpful. We got married in Dubuque and they said they host reception parties right at the Solon. So we did it..It was so worth it we had about 70-80 people in the huge back yard. And it was so spacious inside too!

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary as we were also attending my sisters college gradation in town, and I have to say we were very happy with our stay! We were in the room on the ground floor which was just awsome! The decor was new and more trendy then one would expect in a b&b. They also provided wine glasses, cork screw and bottle of local apple wine which was very nice. Our room might have been small if not for the fact that it had an (obviously recently updated)open on-sweet that was amazing! It had a two person jacuzzi tub that was VERY deep and a really cute sink. The toilet was in a tiny closet type "room" but it didn't bother us as we just left the door open in to the bathroom. They did provide food for breakfast when ever we wanted it in the kitchen that was just outside our door. There was yogurt, fresh fruit, bread for toast, and batter to making your own waffles. We really liked the fact that we were on our own and didn't have to share our time or space with anyone else but if that's not your thing you might want to look else where. The neighborhood is gorgeous and we had a great time just walking around looking at all the beautiful houses. Over all we loved our time there and we would deffinetly stay again

First, you will have complete privacy in this B&B! No annoying calls from a front desk, no one stopping by your room and only other guests in the common kitchen area. ||||We arrived to find a very welcoming note on our door, the thermostat (which is in the entry way as this was originally a single family civil war era mansion) set at 70 degrees and the instructions were to set the thermostat for our comfort, relax, enjoy our privacy and enjoy the breakfast, which was laid out for us before 9 AM as promised.||||Breakfast included plenty of nicely presented fresh fruits, yogurt of various flavors, ready to use waffle mix (and hotel style waffle maker), toast, freshly made muffins, hot and cold cereals, coffee, tea, milk, orange juice and even hot chocolate could be made in the ceramic mugs and microwave. Short of freshly boiled eggs, it was as good as any self-serve breakfast bar at a 3 or 4 star hotel. We enjoyed making waffles together and taking our breakfast back to our cozy room to watch the news and the Dubuque area channel (which has highlights of the surrounding area showing various activities from parks to skiing and even casinos) from our bed.||||Our room was nicely appointed with some antique furnishings that are from the era of the original owner along with the modern conveniences of wireless internet, a flat screen TV and DVD player, plenty of towels, a hair dryer and a very comfortable bed with a down comforter. The French doors leading to our room had tasteful black out curtains and locked with a sturdy, new deadbolt. The tub was a deep, whirlpool style tub with easy to use controls. The faucets are new but were thankfully antique style to help match the home. The shower massage wand was a nice touch as well. The glass bowl sink with its antique faucets really fit in nicely. Finding the toilet in its own small room with French doors added even more to the old world charm! The original oak floors are still very serviceable and beautiful.||||We found a book shelf in the common area with everything from magazines to books (a few that couples really should read and enjoy) to DVDs of popular movies. ||||The building is in good shape and Jeremy, the current owner spends much of his free time restoring it and maintaining it. We happened to run into him working in the kitchen area when he thought we would be out. He was nice enough to take time out to explain the history of the house and the original owner.||||We will definitely be back to enjoy more of the relaxing quiet and calming charm of this house, which by the way is set in a historic hilltop neighborhood.||||Many thanks to the owners for our relaxing and romantic Christmas stay! ||

The Solon Langworthy House is a newer establishment in upper Dubuque, but the owners have remodeled an old home and have made it a true home for travelers. The bottom floor room is the best, offering a large bed, tv, leisure room and jacuzzi tub. All amenities are provided, which sets off the whole experience. I found my stay to be very comfortable and homey, and I didn't want to leave. Breakfast, tea and a wall of DVDs are provided for all guests. Great place to stay.

I was passing through and i always enjoy a whirlpool tub so that's how I chose this one. It is in a beautiful neighborhood. The deluxe suite is immediately off the main entrance and the "doors" are glass paned with a curtain, for me this was not nearly private enough. The other three rooms seemed to be more private.||The room itself was good enough the toilet is wedged in an odd tight space which was a bit cumbersome to maneuver in and out of. I was pleased with the tub and there is a common kitchen where you make your own breakfast. The wi-fi didn't work which was disappointing.||I think this is an ok choice but I would recommend any room other than the deluxe suite just for the privacy issue.

Great place to stay, and close to downtown. The B&B was on one end of the house, and owners on the other. It was very private; you walk in and there will be a note on your room with instructions on your stay. The room had a comfortable bed and jacuzzi tub/ shower. Enjoyed the movies and popcorn provided. Nice small breakfast was provided in the morning. Would defiantly recommend

Cannot speak highly enough of the Solon Langworthy House, what a wonderful place. We were lucky enough to be the only people staying here so had complete privacy in the Master Suite which occupies the whole upper floor. We arrived to find all the instructions for our stay taped to the banisters (brilliant touch) and although we never saw our hosts, we always felt like they were only a phone call away. What a joy to come down to the kitchen in the morning to find that the breakfast fairy's had been to leave us plenty of waffle mix (all individually set in the fridge to make the perfect size waffle), fruit, cereals, warm muffins, tea & coffee and fresh orange juice.||The house is decorated in keeping with its age and has a fantastic atmosphere but the addition of the huge modern bath was a real bonus and great place to relax.||Overall, this was a great find and we will definitely stay here again when we're in the area.

Multiple rooms available. If the rest were anything like our deluxe suite, they are amazing...fully remodeled to be almost like a mini apartment. They have free beverages...including beer...yes I said free beer. Super comfortable with a great whirlpool tub. Absolutely, the beat b&b I have ever been to. We might have to make up excuses to visit Dubuque just to come back. This place deserves more that 5 stars.

Been trying to get here for years, and was finally able to make-it when they're open. LOTS of options (from sandwiches, to meats, to prepared meals), all seemed very reasonably priced. It's not a big place, but they pack a lot into the small space (
