This was a good place to stay for the night and I could see myself staying longer. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly , and it's in a cute mountain town. The smokehouse patio grill was great. It's a literal shack with simple but good food and cold beer. The live music was great. We wound down there after a long day of traveling. I would like to come back.

We had another reservation fall through and stumbled into the Smoke House. The two young ladies at the front desk (I should have written their names down but we were stressed from the previous issues) were kind, thorough, and accomodating. The cabin was so sweet and cozy. It was a genuine experience we will never forget! And definitely go to the restaurant :)

For the last decade I’ve traveled from mi to fl several times a year. This is my halfway point and a total hidden gem. I’m a single mom and traveling cross country can be scary but this place is home away from home with a small town feel, sheriff is always in sight at night. Set at the top of the mountains they have a hotel or cabins with a beautiful pool and gorgeous scenery. Log cabin hotel with stone floors and marble countertops. Even the lobby is breathtaking with what must be a 25ft fireplace. Don’t think I’ve ever paid more than $65 a night. 24 hour restaurants and gas stations within eyesight and directly off the exit. Unique shops and local attractions my son and I love this place. We miss the restaurant which burned down a few years ago but are looking forward to the day the smokehouse reopens. The staff is very welcoming and helpful, everyone in town is friendly. Highly recommend 10/10

The very first thing you should know about this place is that the restaurant burned down two years ago. They do not have a restaurant at the location. They have an outside bbq joint outback where the restaurant used to be. It is only open on Saturdays and Sundays. They have local talent and music. I cannot say anything about it because I was there during the week. My room looked like the sheets were slept in and were not changed. The room was clean enough. There is no microwave or refrigerator. There is a vending, ice and microwave oven in a room towards the back of the property. It’s pretty centrally located and there is a purified water station. I strongly recommend that you book a room towards the back of the property. The front rooms are noisy because they face a busy road. There is also a lot of light that comes through the threadbare privacy curtains. The a/c in my room needed repair it worked but kept cycling on and off all night long. The best part of staying here is the very inviting lounge that had a nice fire going. This area is very well maintained. It has a place to get coffee use a computer or fax. It’s very well equipped I cannot say how well the electronics worked because I did not used them. I did not drink their coffee. There are cabins for rent towards the back. They are rustic looking and looked more inviting than the lodge. This is a nice property that is in badly need of some repairs and updating. If I were to pass this way again I would like to try one of the rooms towards the back.

Very nice and quiet, clean, & peaceful. Good nights sleep. Could smell the fireplaces from neighboring houses. Just did miss their restaurant. But, went to Italian one down the road & had a great pork chop dinner. Was sleeting & this was great place to stop for the night. Would stay again.

I grew up in the area and may be over-critical, but I had way higher expectations for the "World Famous Smokehouse"... We stayed in one of the cabins for a week. I cannot speak for the lodge itself, but these cabins are managed poorly. My wife and I have felt far more comfortable and rested staying in remote cabins without electricity. First, the low advertised rates and BOGO offers are false. Initially advertised at a reduced rate of $60-70/night, our average nightly rate ended up at $141 for the cabin. Prices go way up on the weekend and cancel out any advertised savings from during the week. The mattress was far past it's expiration date and was a squishy bag of lumps with a depression in the center. My wife and I had to sleep along the outer edges of the bed to avoid falling into the trap. We told the front desk and they said "Huh?". The wall-mount heat/AC roars to life like a turbine and cycles on/off constantly, only being off for a few seconds before winding back up. Without it the cabin became frigid. However, also without it, the sounds of nature (the semi-trucks constantly Jake-braking down the interstate combined with the nightly police & ambulance sirens) really added to the lack of peace. The cabins are 1/4 mile from the office, making it inconvenient to ask for normal "hotel" things like toilet paper or to get a failed key-card re-keyed in the rain. The toilet would run every time unless you jiggle the handle. The fireplace is functional but mostly for show only and doesn't draft well or provide any real heat. The firewood has been stacked outside each cabin, but every woodpile is exposed to the rain. The pathetic fires in the fireplace only poured smoke into the cabin until I could scavenge enough dry pieces from the bottoms of the neighboring wood piles. Each cabin has a covered porch that has plenty of room to store the wood or at least a dry box for a few logs and kindling. The internet to the TV was too slow to watch a movie without constant buffering. What else? Intermittent housekeeping and we had to leave notes if we needed anything. Only 1 very thin blanket and a sheet for the bed. No extra blankets so if there were a 3rd person, additional bedding would be required. No paper towels provided for the kitchenette area. The tub was nice. Location to the interstate was convenient. Some staff were friendly, some obviously didn't care. The cabins are too close to each other, but they have privacy shades.

Positive: All staff members we encountered were super helpful and friendly. Negative: Bathrooms are pretty dated, though clean. Upstairs neighbor was very loud throughout the night. Location on a highway is convenient but definitely not scenic.

Positive: The staff were very polite and friendly. My dog Obi accompanied me on my trip and the staff were also kind to my dog. The lodge is a very family oriented place which is nice to see. Negative: The wood floor leading to my room is soft and in need of repair in the near future.

I wish we lived closer! Stopped to get gas on our way from Chicago to Florida and decided to grab something to eat. I googled places nearby and thought we'd give this place a chance. The parking lot was packed so I knew it was going to be good. There

A beautiful park to camp and hike. Stayed here for 3 days and nights and had a great time. The campground in which I stayed was .5 miles away from the waterfall. To hear the sound of it at night is so peaceful. I would come back here again to experie
