We had our company winter party here. The atmosphere was comfortable and festive. It was relaxing and done at our pace. The food was delicious. We had the salmon which everyone seemed to love and the vegan mushroom gnocchi which was satisfying with the wine and green salad. People said the fondue was good but I didn't see that many people eating it. I think we are not fondue people. The apple strudel dessert was eaten by all. I thought it went well with the other food.
THIS IS THE BEST PLACE FOR GLUTEN FREE meals! The owner, Eugene has been running this amazing place for 30 years and transitioned into a more vegan, GF friendly menu. There is something for everyone. The ambiance is so beautiful, drinks are wonderful and the food is divine! I recommend the horseradish mashed potatoes AND the GF onion rings. We are definitely coming back for breakfast, Eugene really takes pride in his food and it shows with each delicious bite! 😋 For my glutinous lovers, my BF recommends the fondue with freshly made pumpernickel bread!
This place is a gem for breakfast/brunch! The menu is very unique and very German, and very vegan friendly! I’m no German cuisine expert but I loved everything we ordered today. Here are the items we ordered: 1. Austrian pancake (schmarrn) with apple compote, it’s one of the best pancakes I’ve ever had, I loved how some parts are so perfectly crunchy, some parts with caramelization from apple compote, and middle part is fluffy and soft, all the perfect texture into one pancake dish, I’ll be coming back to this place just for this dish! 2. Vegan curry tofu hash so packed full of flavors and the tofu bits makes it taste just like a breakfast egg scramble, it paired perfectly well with a side order of the house made pumpernickel bread. Also do not sleep on the house made bread here, the bread is absolutely divine, we loved it so much and ordered a whole loaf to take home 3. A side order of the Hungarian sausage, it was delicious and so full of aromas of the spices and packed full of flavors, the sausage here is a must try! I’d love to try their vegan sausage next time too! 4. My dad got a soppresata scramble with this amazing hash brown, wow their hash brown is so unique I don’t even know how to describe it, but it is a must get too! The owner was our server and he is so friendly and takes the time to chat with us, he trained as a chef in Germany and have lived there for over a decade, so the food here is most likely very authentically German! There are so many unique German/Austrian dishes on the menu that looked delicious to us that we didn’t get to try so I can’t wait to go back and try more dishes. If you’re looking for a place with more exciting and unique menu options than the usual brunch restaurants in a cute quaint neighborhood, this is definitely the spot to check out!
The Slide Inn was just a cute and quaint location!! There was one server who was super nice and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was spectacular, I've never had an Austrian pancake but I definitely will again!!! If you want a chill quiet breakfast, this is definitely the place!!
We loved the "Slide Inn" so much that we went three times during our weekend stay in Portland! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is eclectic, and the owner/chef is an amazing host. Almost everything can be made gluten-free. My partner is celiac, and we were so excited to be able to order whatever we wanted off of the menu without sacrificing quality: weiner schnitzel, apple fritters, onion rings, eggs benedict, Austrian pancakes, latkes, crepes... Everything is made from scratch in-house; the gluten-free rosemary bread, pickles, soppressata, ginger beer, and more. The quality of the ingredients and preparation are stellar, we're excited for next time!
So incredibly delicious! Pesto was perfect and the peppers perfectly balanced the taste. Burger bun was a bit tough but worth it. The fries were amazing! Service was good, too, server was very kind :)
We went in and learned that this man does everything, by himself, from scratch. Keeping that in mind, the food was WELL WORTH THE WAIT. I highly recommend and we can’t wait to come back for their dinner menu! Also, I am completely gluten free and felt very safe eating here, very knowledgeable owner. PS, you can’t leave without the gluten free apple fritters!
Incredible experience here this morning! Came with two friends and completely enjoyed every single thing we tried! I’m gluten free and vegan, and my friends are omnivorous, so we each got something different. I got the vegan sausage, banana bread French toast, and the gnocchi and all were incredibly delicious. I loved the selection of syrups! And Eugene (the owner) is incredible! Amazing to chat with him and he does all the things!! 10/10 recommend this place! I grew up in Germany and it felt like a little piece of childhood! Sorry the picture is taken halfway through eating! I was so excited I forgot to take one before digging in!
The food was good! But what I love the most is their bier cheese soup! Very delicious! Personally I think the music is slightly too loud but overall I do love the vibe of the place (and as a night owl I love the fact that theyâre open till 2:30 lol
I love this spot. They have one of the best cappuccinos in Portland. The staff is always kind, and friendly. And the tunes are always on point. Pro tip: ask for sugar crunchies on your capp. You wonât regret it!
