The views from this place are stunning and gorgeous! Snow covered mountains, sea, islands, and the constant sound of waves provide a relaxing and calm break from routine. Ensure that you know about the small rooms and shared bathroom and kitchen before you book and you will have no problems setting your expectations accordingly. I had a wonderful stay here!

Web sight deceptive. Rented Bungalow which was nice enough but placed in front yard ,tucked in a corner w a very busy highway just in front off house. It was like 33 degrees when we arrived . Host " forgot " to turn on small space heater, apologetic but For what was paid forgetting shouldnt of been a part of equation. Stated it would warm up quickly.Had to ask for an extra blanket. behind the gate was a Beautiful View of Sound. Hot Tub literally had a great view but you were directly in front of another units view. If You like close quarters then it would be " okay" Minimal privacy w shared bathroom & kitchette areas

Not sure where to start! WE LOVE THE SHIP HOUSE and its "Paterfamilias", Oggie. We have stayed here numerous times over the years, spent time in each of the rooms, and every visit was better than the last. It's saying it's a "3" Star hotel, in our minds it's one of the BEST 5 STAR hotels on the West Coast. From the initial welcome from Oggie to the sublime view out back from your room to the BBQ's that we use to make a lovely dinner, to the snacks in the fridge and the continental breakfast provided, it just doesn't get any better. You can unwind without any reason to leave OR you can grab a few groceries and enjoy a lovely "home cooked" meal on your little private deck outside your room and watch the sun go down, it's downright SPECTACULAR! There's free parking out front and you are literally 20 steps from your room! DO NOT miss your chance to visit Oggie if you are in the area, it will be the best thing you have done all year!

I loved this place. Stayed in the captain room. It’s got an amazing view and whether summer or winter you will get a great view of sunrise and or sunsets. The owners and all who up keep it are a delight. Clean cozy nautical themed rooms. Nice coffee and continental breakfast included. Quiet and peaceful. I hope to come back for another stay. It’s so much better to me than a hotel or motel. Lots of character. Only 7 miles and less to restaurants, the water and deception pass. You also have a fridge, microwave and 2 burners in room

From the moment we arrived we loved the place! From the amazing view of the bay from our Captain's Cabin with great privacy and use of a kitchen, to our endearing host, his family and doggies, we loved our stay! We were completely comfortable, enjoying the rocking chairs in our room as we gazed out onto the bay, and slept really well. The breakfast items were much appreciated, as well as access to bowls and utensils for ice cream we brought in to enjoy! Oggie and his family helped us with places to eat and wonderful places to visit. On his recommendation we drove up Mt. Erie to spectacular views of the islands. So fantastic! I cried when we left. I know we'll return to enjoy this completely unique and lovely experience. Thanks Oggie and your family!

We spent a quick overnight in Oggie's Captain's Quarters on our way to Victoria. The place is adorable and Oggie has made it feel like you're on a boat...wood, pictures, nautical touches everywhere. The place has a sink and microwave. You will have to go outside to use the bathroom, but it's right there and it feels private. The view from the room is gorgeous and we were fortunate enough to be treated to a wonderful sunset! Oggie is a gem...and takes a lot of pride in the place. Sadly, we left so early in the morning to catch our ferry, that we didn't get to say goodbye. However, Oggie had some goodies left out for us to grab something on the way out. If you book, please make sure you spend some time visiting with Oggie. Tara & Kenn

My husband and I stayed here for one night. We found this to be one of the most unique and charming places we've ever stayed! Our room was crafted to look like and feel like the inside of a ship. So much attention was given to every detail, and there were lovely pictures all around of the owner and his family. Lots of interesting books were available, as well as fantastic mix tapes reminiscent of the 80s and 90s. The view was breathtaking, and the whole experience was just one of a kind. We also felt we had significant privacy, for a B&B. ||||For the B&B category, we felt this was a 5-star experience due to the gorgeous grounds, unique and creative architecture and decor, and peace that comes from falling asleep looking right out onto the water from 'the boat'. Some reviewers were critical but I think it's important to remember this is a B&B and not a hotel. The breakfast is very low maintenance -- a variety of instant foods that can be made quickly. If you are looking for organic food or a gourmet breakfast, this is not the place. And it does not have that quaint "Grandma's cottage" feel of some B&Bs, complete with victorian details and quilts. My husband and I hate that sort of thing, so we loved it, but I think it's important to realize this is a very unique B&B. The great attention to detail and care given to this place is impressive and touching.

Owners Oggie and Betty are super nice and sweet. They charged my friends $135 a night for the Captains room and gave me the Oar House at $50 and I could see why. My friends also had difficulty sleeping due to the bed quality and the cold from the thin walls as well. ||Room quality: I got upgraded from the Lighthouse room to the Oar House which had two beds to choose from. It also had the main blind facing the outdoor seating area were missing..so my window didn't have any blinds. Even with the thermostat at 70, I found myself shivering in the middle of the night due to thin walls (I could here the cars zoom by from the back of the house in the room and the windows were single paned). The bathroom wasn't connected to the room, rather it was across the hall that required stepping outside into the cold, though still under a roof. There are no channels to watch, only DVDs which I counted there were 36 to choose from. There was no VCR to use but a bunch of videos to choose from. WiFi is not accessible in the Oar House so I was told to go to the room where breakfast would be served to get any internet, which was across the backyard into the other side of the house.||Food: it is all frozen food that you heat yourself. There were Schwann's omelets, pancakes, sausages, frozen Greek yogurt and eggo waffles. The cereals available were mini wheats, raisin bran, corn flakes and others. There is a keurig that only had coffee available.||Overall the view is beautiful and the decor is very nautical and unique with pictures of Oggie during his fisherman days also it is 5 min driving to the ferry.||But it isn't worth the $135 a night due to poor sleep quality from thin walls and frozen food. At $50 it is definitely worth it just for the view itself but the location isn't in walking distance of anything except for the ferry.
