The Sea Star Oceanfront Lodging - Hotel in Old Orchard Beach - 1 Kinney Ave, USA

Took the family back, 17 years after the last time we visited. This time we rented the two top penthouses. Location- steps from the beach, which makes schlepping beach stuff amazing. Downside to the location is the club music that starts around 10pm and goes until around 2am, so if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. You can also hear the live music from the abutting restaurant, which is actually a nice perk...free live music while you eat your own dinner! Perks- CLEAN AS CAN BE. Spotless, really. I am very picky and even bring my own cleaning supplies but I felt so comfortable here. Even the cabinets and dishes...even the closets and under the sinks... everywhere- spotless. The owner and worker come by to leaf blow and sweep the porches/landings of sand, etc. daily. Everything is kept up just beautifully. Washer and dryer are great. Grill/dishes/linens provided- so helpful. Can't beat the location in regards to walkability to not only the beach but to the kitchy fun that OOB's Pier area offers. No need to drive the car after you park. Owner is extremely accessible by phone. Had a glitch with the key code on one door and she was able to remedy quickly. Had a question about where to put trash and had my answer in two seconds. Storage is plentiful- plenty of spots to stash the beach chairs/umbrellas, etc. Cons- shared porches/veranda can make for some awkwardness. Noise level is tough with the abutting businesses. The penthouses should be noted that they are absolutely not for anyone even slightly mobility-impared. The trek up to the third floor is a good workout! Also, some may see this is a con, but I appreciate it- owner is very on top of things. One evening she called me to tell me that she could see we had windows open and scolded me about not having AC on at the same time. I had one of our kids run over to close the windows but came to find out when we returned that in fact the AC was not on...the room was 79 degrees when we got back! Ha. 😄 BUT to me, I think this speaks to how well this owner maintains her property. This is why she can charge a decent fee for her rentals. She keeps the place in tip-top shape! Most rental spots at a beach can be fun but...sticky. 😅 The Sea Star is not that. It's spacious, spotless, and a great place to make memories (at all stages of life)! I'm glad we went back.

I would not stay here again. I feel like the price was too high for really getting nothing included in the condo except close to the pier. I would rather stay further away from pier now at another place that offers a bit more. Pros: place was clean and spacious; close to pier, washer/dryer included Cons: we were not impressed with shared balcony, we were not informed that it was next to a bar where the music was thumping until after midnight, no shower to rinse off the beach sand, no pool(which to some may not be a big deal to me, it is.)

Spent a week with my husband and 2 grown children. We all had a wonderful time and commented on how lovely our accommodations were, as well as the perfect location steps from the perfect beach. Our room had 2 bedrooms and a full kitchen. The living and dining areas were spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was large with a washer/dryer. Parking was nearby and we visited many nearby locations of interest, including an animal refuge with my first ever Moose!!! Would recommend the Sea Star to my friends and family. And don't let me forget the beautiful view of the ocean from our windows.

You honestly could not ask for better! We absolutely are loving our stay here. It is so close to everything. It is so clean, and Cynthia is so nice and just a phone call away to answer any questions. We would highly recommend staying here. We loved having live music outside every night at the restaurant next door. We were in one of the penthouses but would also love to try staying in one of the townhouses in the future. We had a nice shared deck upstairs with a grill and plenty of chairs with a table and umbrella! There is also a firepit in front, with a perfect view if the beach! Such a great place, with the beach just steps from your door, and only about a 1 or 2 minute walk to the pier, just incredible!

I stayed with my two sons (8 and 4), as well as my mother, in June. What a great family vacation! There is no better location in OOB...period. Directly on the beach, with a large shared porch and private area on the sand that includes picnic tables, fire pit, etc. George and Cynthia were wonderful hosts. The condo was well appointed and had all of the necessities. (Loved having a washer/dryer in the unit!) The weather was amazing, and even on the one day that it rained we had a great time exploring tidal pools and roaming through town. Main St. is full of good food, fun shops...there is a summer carnival just across the street...best restaurant in town is directly next to the condo. Best clam chowder I've EVER had! Kennebunkport is just a 30 min drive away (definitely worth a day trip). We will definitely return; can't wait to get back there!

This is a gem of a place. Location is amazing, steps away from the beach, entertainment and restaurants. Yet when you get back its serene and quiet. I stayed in the Penthouse unit 4. 2 couples with small kids. Wonderful oceanview and amusement park view. Bright, airy, spacious,super clean and safe. Wifi and local phone included. Kitchen stocked up well. ||Cynthia and family is great and they are always available if you need them. She sent us a list on what to bring and recommendations on shopping, excursions, sightseeing.||The beach is huge enough space for anyone even on a busy weekend. The storage at the bottom is great for beach stuff so we did not have lug our sandy stuff upstairs everytime. Can't wait to go back.

My wife and I stayed at the Sea Star for a month starting mid September. Yes, it was a long time dream! We could not have picked a better place to stay. We were in the penthouse, and each morning were greeted with a million dollar view. We were right in the center of downtown so all was within walking distance. The kitchen was stocked with all you would need to prepare your own meals. Cynthia, the owner, also will supply cooked lobsters at market price for your evening meal. Daily, my wife and I would look at each other and say, "life is good!"

Love it..We have been going for three years. The Sea Star is awesome. Cynthia is amazing and super friendly. We have made lasting friendships with the other renters.You have everything you need which is great because you dont need to pack alot .10 steps to the beach and right next door to the pier. The Surf Six has great food which is right next door also. It is above and beyond when is comes to being clean. The beds are super comfy.. Cant wait till vacation there 2014
