The Scenic Hotel at Biltmore Village - Featured Reviews (75)
WARNING: This hotel is under renovation! We were informed 2-3 days before our stay. Maybe it will be better once the renovations are completed. The only rooms renovated in the hotel are on floors 5 and 6. |Location is great.|Check-in was less than stellar. On the Bonvoy app we checked in and gave our arrival time as 3:15. We were told at check-in our room wouldn't be ready for another 1/2 hour so we gave it 3/4 of an hour. At 2nd check-in staff attempted to say our room still wasn't ready when I informed front desk that I had left once and returned as I was told it would be ready. Staff thanked me for being a member then proceeded to interogate me on the purpose of my stay and why I was in Asheville. I get maybe it's a marketing thing they have to do, but the way it was done was just wrong.|We were not given a newly remodeled room so maybe new rooms will be better. Our room (on the 3rd floor) was clean, bathroom was spacious, but even with AC set on 71° the room felt hot and humid when AC cycled off. Room was quiet.|Staff is truly indifferent. I've seen reviews calling the staff stellar and I just didn't see it. When we arrived some of the staff were sitting on the lobby sofas using their cellphones, another was sitting on top of the checkin desk using a cellphone. When returning in the evening from an event around 10pm guests were in the lobby waiting to checkin with no staff around to help them. |Amenities: pool appeared open, gym is closed. |Breakfast: hot and cold options available was surprisingly good. Hot breakfast options included scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, bacon, oatmeal, toast. Cold cereals, yogurt, fruit. |Overall not a completely terrible stay, but not a great stay either. One would expect much, much BETTER from a Bonvoy hotel. As a member I was really disappointed and wished I had enough notice to change my reservation. Maybe I'd give the hotel another chance AFTER all renovations are completed but then again, maybe not.||
Hotel is under renovation, but the rooms are very nice, updated and clean. We checked in and the young lady was friendly, courteous and helpful.||The following morning is what ruined the stay. Breakfast is advertised at 0630 and we confirmed this with staff. However, when we arrived at the breakfast area, only cereal and some fruit were out.||We waited several minutes as other guests arrived and discovered no hot food yet. One guest finally left.||Approximately at 0650, the attendant started to slowly bring out the food. Some guests had started eating the bread, Pop Tarts, and oatmeal.||There were no napkins available and even after being requested, none appeared. I went to the men's restroom and got a pile of paper towels to give out. The manager on duty was aware of the issue, but made minimal efforts to assist or resolve the problems. He was more interested in looking at his phone. We left at approximately 0705 and the remainder of the hot food was just being brought out. The lack of service makes it very difficult to meet travel schedules.||Upon checkout, we were charged 2 nights for a 1 night stay. The issue was finally resolved, but added to the delay of our departure.||We are Titanium Elite members and have not encountered a breakdown of service, such as this, during any of our many stays at Marriott properties.||An email was sent to the General Manager, but a reply has not been received as of the writing of this review.
Driving up to this hotel was a bit of a shock, it does not look like the picture, I think this is a rendering of what it will look like after renovations are complete. We had to enter through a side door as the entrance was closed. We were unsure which hotel we were staying in as the floor we were staying on was a Holiday inn, the two upper floors looked like Marriott, which is the property owner now. The floor above us was completely stripped and the elevator was not locked to this floor. I feel this is unsafe if you have kids who might end up pushing the button to this floor. There were warnings when booking that there were renovations but not to this extent. Had I not been locked in to the reservation, I would have gone elsewhere. The room was clean and comfortable. No issues there. Pool and hot tub were great, but the lift for the pool was over the pool and also a hazard.
Very nice hotel! Hotel was being totally remodeled from a Holiday Inn into a Marriott, but you would never know it! No noise; nice room and everything we expected. Casey at front desk was efficient and very helpful! We would stay there again! Very convenient to Biltmore Village and one block to street leading to The Biltmore.
I hesitate to write a review based on a hotel that is under renovation. We stayed here when it was a Holiday Inn and like the location with walkability to Biltmore Village. |I could not tell that our Standard King room had been renovated but I guess based on the photos it actually had been.|The complimentary breakfast was better then expected since this was not offered when it was a Holiday Inn property. |It is nice to be able to park in a covered parking garage at no additional charge. |I was completely aware that the property was under renovation when I made the reservation, but I don't think I was prepared for how much of a construction zone it would be. |I would stay here again because of the location when in the area again and if renovations are complete.
The reason I give this hotel 1-star is because of the type of people they hire. Anna is not only rude and dismissive, but unprofessional and unethical. Her behavior was garbage from the time we walked in. Not only did she have us stand and wait while she discusses one of the guests' private information but we could hear their name and room number. I have never had a hotel clerk have guests who are checking in, stand and wait while they discuss currently checked-in guests needs in their presence. She then sought to try and devalue us by speaking to us as if we couldn't read, which we found laughable. I completely understand why some people have left comments that the hotel is anti-hospitable. With people like Anna working at this hotel, it certainly is. I recommend she either be placed in the back out of sight and not dealing with customers or retrained to develop her skills to a more professional level.
Spent one night here and it was good. ||The hotel is UNDER RENOVATION. Because of this renovation expect limited amenities. They are rebranding to an AC Hotel. Bar - closed, ice makers - shut down, fitness- closed. Very limited parking. ||However, the rooms are nice, pool is open and indoors and heated. Rooms are spacious, covered parking deck. Breakfast was decent. You are a 5 minute walk to the village shopping and dining areas. Staff was amazing! ||Honestly will stay here again especially after renovations are complete! Construction noise was not that bad. And if you are like us you won’t be in the room when they are working anyway. Don’t overlook this place.
Horrible service and anti-hospitality at check out especially. Decent but not awesome location. Renovated rooms are nice. But much of hotel is under construction. Fitness center closed. Bathrooms closed on main floor. Breakfast is meh. What really upset me is that this semi-functional hotel really harassed me to get out of the room by 11am. They knocked and called several times and refused to extend even by 30 minutes. This is NOT my usual experience as a very loyal Marriott customer. The staff needs serious training on politeness and accommodation to guest needs. To allow me a little grace to extend by 30 mins would not have been an issue for them. I’m here visiting my mother in the hospital and got delayed due to conversations with doctors. I was moving as fast as I could to pack up and the harassment and attitude was really impolite and unnecessary. If this is the treatment I get as a gold elite Marriott member, I can’t imagine how they treat others who do not travel as much. I hope this review will help them improve.
