The Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort, Waikiki - Hotel in Honolulu - 2259 Kalākaua Ave, USA

We had the most wonderful holiday staying at this iconic hotel and to be honest I can’t understand some of the negative reviews! We stayed on the 15th floor in the Mailani Tower with the most spectacular views! Having the large balcony complete with table + 2 chairs and decent size pink sofa made it an extra room to relax on with a cup of coffee in the morning and a drink in the evening before heading out to dinner. The room itself was a decent size with a lovely comfortable king bed with beautiful bed linen and was serviced twice daily and was extremely clean with plenty of storage, very large tv and room safe! Bathroom was also spacious and very clean. All amenities were restocked daily. |Pool was great and always got a sunlounger but you do need to get up early to claim one. We booked a beach umbrella set for our first day in case we didn’t get into our room until late however we were fortunate to be able to access our room by lunchtime! If you are wanting to secure a beach umbrella set you need to book well in advance on their website as they book out early. The on-site bakery is also excellent for coffees and pastries until 12.00. |We loved the magnificent gardens and architecture of this beautiful old lady and will definitely be returning as soon as possible! Just book it and enjoy!

I recently stayed at the Royal Hawaiian and had an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making me feel like a valued guest. The hotel's historic charm and stunning architecture are truly unique, and the beachfront location provides breathtaking views of Waikiki Beach. The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and well-appointed with all the amenities one could need. I particularly enjoyed the comfortable bed and the luxurious bathroom. The dining options were superb, with delicious food and a variety of choices to suit all tastes. One of the highlights of my stay was lounging by the pool and taking in the beautiful surroundings. The lush gardens and serene atmosphere make it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The hotel's location is also ideal, with easy access to shopping, dining, and local attractions. Overall, my stay at the Royal Hawaiian was unforgettable, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Honolulu. It offers a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and Hawaiian hospitality. I can't wait to return!

My family stayed in two garden rooms (242 and 449) at the Royal Hawaiian from August 7-11. Both rooms were in the historic building. This was our third year in a row staying at the Royal and it is starting to feel like home. There are so many things about this hotel that keep bringing us back.||We absolutely love the grounds, the location, the beach, and the shared pool with the Sheraton next door. My two daughters also really like the pool here even though it isn't all that big. I'm still amazed that a hotel that's smack dab within the middle of everything in Waikiki can still feel so serene and peaceful. ||We love the fact that there is so much history with this hotel and there is something about the pink paint that just works. Every employee we came across at the hotel made us feel welcome and appreciated. ||When it comes to the rooms we do have to mention the small bathrooms but I imagine that things were a little different with plumbing when it was built almost a century ago. We had 4 of us in room 449 and it was a little tight but totally manageable. We stayed in two suites a couple years ago and they were great but we really don't spend enough time in the room to warrant the extra expense. The high ceilings in each room give the impression of a little extra space. ||We really had a wonderful stay and we can't wait to return again in the future.

We absolutely love staying here. The staff is impeccable. They are always smiling, welcoming and friendly. The accommodations are welcoming, roomy, and extremely comfortable. This hotel has a lot of history to make your stay even more enjoyable. The hotel is right on the beach with incredible views.

We stayed in a twin garden view room in the original hotel. It was amazing. The room was spacious, the beds were exceptionally comfortable and the staff were fabulous. If you get the opportunity to do the history tour of the hotel I works absolutely recommend.|The location is perfect and we could not have asked for a better time. |I have given 4 stars not 5 for two reasons. One is the water pressure in the shower is quite light. Second is the coat of hiring beach chairs and an umbrella on the beach. When you are paying $42USD in resort fees per day, I would expect the hiring of beach chairs to be less than $100USD a day.

Overall, the Royal Hawaiian is a fantastic hotel, with a great location and plenty of elegant views within the hotel and out back where the beach and restaurants are. You couldn’t ask for a better location for Waikiki Beach, shops and more! The amount you pay is certainly for the location and views, not necessarily the rooms. The rooms are MOST DEFINITELY old, and need an update ASAP, like just about every hotel on Waikiki Beach. The room worked for me being a solo traveler, but the bathroom was extremely tight, the mattress was stained, some of the sheets and pillow cases were stained, and if you’re traveling with more than just yourself, it could be an issue for the size of the room. Negative: Some of the staff is extremely rude, and to me, this makes this a 4-Star hotel. I will say, for the issues I had, the Manager was great in communicating with me afterwards. I am not one of these stuck up, entitled people, but I do expect a certain respect and level of Customer Service provided, when paying for a room for 14 days, with a total cost of $7,800 for a King room w/Garden View in the Historic Wing of the hotel. This was not an Ocean View. I won’t give the specifics of the issues, because I either directly told the staff about themselves or the Manager handled it. I understand the Hospitality industry can be stressful and there are certain Guests that are just rude. I have worked in these environments myself and it can be challenging; however, the staff that walk around with a chip on their shoulder in what should ALWAYS be a 5-star hotel experience are giving this place a bad reputation. Personally, I don’t want to see negative reviews, because the hotel overall is perfect, outside of the dated rooms and some of the poor communication skills or terrible attitudes of the staff. ****Hopefully, this review does not get the usual copy and paste response about apologizing and that whole typical response, and the leadership of the hotel actually trains and improves their staff issues****

We had a wonderful stay at The iconic Royal Hawaiian. Everything was great as usual (this was our fourth stay). Upgraded to a nice Ocean View room, as part of the Fine Hotel Resort program through American Express. All amenities were excellent. We will be returning for sure. It is the best place to stay on Waikiki Beach in my opinion. Such a lovely setting in the midst of all the action. Great location! The history and ambiance of this Hotel is charming and takes you back in time. LOVE the Mai Tai Bar!! There is no better place to sit and watch all the action. Thank you to all the staff and management for making our stay a great experience!

The hotel's location on Waikiki Beach is ideal—very walkable and convenient for families. The property itself is beautiful and picturesque, offering a variety of family-friendly activities. Unfortunately, our stay was marred by an unpleasant experience with a hotel security guard who was very rude when we reported an incident. Additionally, the walls in our room were so thin that we could hear everything happening in the adjacent room, which disrupted our comfort. Due to these issues, we won’t be returning. I hope other guests have a more positive experience.
