We went for Labor Day weekend. The location seemed excellent to explore the city. Self parking at 99 South Juniper as recommended was reasonable enough compared to other garages we noticed at $33 per 24 hours. We were on the 15th floor facing city hall in a Deluxe King room. There was definitely quite a bit of noise from the street at night with sirens and people racing around. We also happened to have some noisy night owl neighbors with kids. The room did have a bit of a smell to me (not to my partner) and wasn’t perfect - it’s a little older. The gym was also on the small side and there’s no pool. The coffee in the lobby in the morning was delicious. Ultimately we had a great work discount, so we were happy given the price we paid. However, I might have been disappointed if we paid the full rate. Overall the room was comfortable and exactly what we wanted for a weekend getaway.

I stayed here during a weekend trip to Philly from NYC. I’ve stayed here in the past. Generally, I think the Ritz Carlton brand has significantly declined since the pandemic in terms of service and providing an elevated the experience to their guests. The room was clean and large but dated. The lobby and bar area are nearly iconic level. The service was nice, but no one seemed to be interested in going out of their way to ensure a great experience. There was a bar drawer in our room that wasn’t refrigerated. When we asked for a refrigerator for our room, they brought up a small refrigerator that looked like it had fallen off the back of truck and didn’t even work. The location is pretty central to Philadelphia overall, but it is not overly close to University City or Old City (where most of the tourist attractions are located) from a walkability perspective. Given the decline in service at Ritz Carlton, I probably would say the extra cost is not worth it. I’d stay at less expensive Marriott brand on my next trip.

I don’t often write reviews, but my recent stay at this hotel has compelled me to share my experience, if only to spare others the same agony. The hotel’s website painted a picture of a delightful family-friendly haven, but my stay was nothing short of a disaster. Here’s why: 1. Misleading Descriptions: The website boasts about a room details that are outright false. As for the family suite, it was cramped, outdated, and lacked any of the promised amenities. I even had to request a crib three times before it finally arrived—covered in what looked like food stains. 2. Broken Promises: The hotel advertised spoke of accommodating all need, but when we arrived, we were told they said no such thing. Outright lying to get bookings and then denying when you are to far committed to change, my children had the worst sleep, which made the whole stay unbearable. 3. Safety Concerns: There were several safety hazards in the room that were simply unacceptable. Exposed electrical outlets, loose furniture, doors that do not properly open and get stuck causing extreme fire hazard. When I reported issues to the front desk, they said they dismissed me and nothing was done. 4. Terrible Customer Service: The staff seemed indifferent to our complaints and offered no apologies or solutions. I tried to escalate issues, but the manager was completely uninterested in making things right. 5. Unhygienic Conditions: To top it off, the cleanliness of the room was appalling. The bathroom had mold in the shower, the carpets were stained, and the bedding looked like it hadn’t been changed in weeks. This experience was a perfect storm of false advertising, poor maintenance, and dreadful customer service. If you’re considering staying, save yourself your hard earned money and stay at numerous other better options just next door. It’s clear that they don’t care about the comfort or safety of their guests, especially families with children. Save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else.

My stay at The Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome and well-cared for, providing impeccable service throughout my visit. The room was luxurious and comfortable, offering stunning views of the city. The amenities were top-notch, and the attention to detail was evident in every aspect of my stay. Dining at the hotel was a delight, with exquisite food and a wonderful ambiance. The location is perfect, making it easy to explore the best of Philadelphia. I can’t wait to return and experience this level of luxury again. Highly recommend!

The hotel property was a bank back in the day so the architecture is grand and imposing. Stunning high ceilings, authentic decor with a modern chic twist in the lobby/ bar. The room was comfortable and slightly larger than average for a major City Centre property. A little worn in places but overall met our expectations, which unfortunately the food didn’t. Very little choice for in room dining and what we did have was expensive (2 sandwiches, 2 cokes and side… $118). Breakfast is a la carte only and similar challenges to the room service menu. Staff were helpful and professional. Quick check in/ out. Superb location and fab view from our bedroom.

Room was very nice, and pleasant walking distance to a number of restaurants. We stayed there the night of a Zach Bryan concert. There was ONE valet working that night. No answer calling to get my car, so I waited with other guests down at the curb for my car while this poor guy rushed around to accommodate everyone. This same person was working alone the next morning. No one at the front desk to check us out so we just left. Given there is no self-parking, and the cost of the valet ($70/night), there's no excuse for having one person handle everyone overnight. There should be someone at the front desk at all times AND to at least answer the phone!

Every review needs proper context - this was a family visit on a weekend in the Summer. Not being native to Philly that could be relevant. ||First the positives - service is excellent here. Valet is a mess with construction and traffic but team out front is great. Front of house and club service great. ||When power went out for hours and elevators lost lights and stalled out on floors at night, the guys worked so hard to help us get to our rooms safely. Why the power went out? Who knows.||And the bar scene in the lobby was lively and looked fun if I was on couples trip or business. ||But let's be clear - the location was awful and impacted our stay. On way in from dinner we almost got run over by motorcycle gang racing on both sides of the street w cops chasing them, got run into by a buck naked woman high on something and then followed into the hotel by a scary guy drunk or high or something who grabbed my wife and then fell down the stairs at which point security quickly surrounded him (so again good service here) but come on! ||I am on a quiet family weekend trip and staying at the ritz - when we finally settled into bed we enjoyed the motorcycle gang sound from the street below until 3am!||Anyway - we checked out early after 1 night. That was enough. Forever. Oh and for the record, we love ritz Carlton's and will stay at others in the months and years to come. But not Philly.

I’m going to compare my experience here to prior stays at other Ritz properties. However, that might be unfair. It’s not even as good as an aloft or moxy property. Residence inn and Fairfield inns are better as well.||We are still there until tomorrow but I can’t see our experience improving at this point. First of all, front desk staff should not be rude. We work in public facing positions. This type of behavior would not be tolerated in our lives of work.||We were looking for some resolution for a temperature issue. We basically got a “suck it up” answer. They at least offered a box fan to someone else we talked to. Our friends currently have a room that goes down to room temperature (68-72F). Ours does not. It’s also humid. The sheets feel sticky because it’s so moist. The least they could have done was to be nice.||The parking situation sucks, but they can’t really do anything about it. It takes 20+ minutes to get your car from the valet. Those guys work hard and provide good customer service. ||The gym is ok. The equipment is generally well maintained. It would be nice if there was some air circulation. Their peloton bikes are decently maintained. ||The lobby is nice and the cocktails are pretty good. ||The location is the best thing they have going for them. Too bad their service does not live up to the Ritz Carlton name. Unfortunately, the price does…
