The Real Thing - American restaurant in Towson - 412 York Rd, USA

First time trying this spot, and it met my expectations. Definitely a great cheesesteak, no skimping on meat or cheese. Fries were hot and crispy. It’s a little hard to find at night and on a map, but it’s next to Backyard. Note: they don’t do online orders, and when I called it was cash only.

I saw, on the internet, that The Real Thing had good cheese steaks, so my wife and I decided to check them out. They were pretty good. The only thing that I wish they would've had were green peppers for the sub. The French fries were good, and we will be going back.

Hands down… one of the best! If not the best cheesesteak spots in Baltimore/Towson. Not to mention this place stays open late til 3am. The portion size is amazing! The sub is a very good size however with size comes $$. For (2) subs, (2) fries, (2) drinks I paid $50 🫤🫤 nonetheless I definitely recommend.

I saw this place recommended countless times in Maryland internet groups as being one of the best cheesesteaks in the state. I'd say that I agree and I can see why so many people are recommending it. It's the epitome of a damn good "hole in the wall" cheesesteak place

If your going here to get the best cheesesteak around, you wont be disappointed. They are serving fresh products, not some frozen garb. Highly recommend the onions rings to pair with it. I dined in and had a wonderful conversation with the owner and also witnessed him share some pleasant banter/jokes with a regular. Consider giving your money to a small business first, especially one like this that does all of the prep work and necessary steps to serve fresh products. About that in house hot sauce, don't forget it! Would love to try that with some wings.

Walked in, man came from the backed, I ordered a cheesesteak, he wrung it up, didn't ask if i wanted anything else, told me the price, I pulled out my card, he said cash only and walked to the back. No way I'm spending money with this tax evader! Seasons Pizza, down the street has really good cheesesteaks and good service!

If you haven't been...you are missing out. This place is delicious. I think it's the best cheese steak I've ever had. It's so well seasoned! The place is pretty quaint. The man working was incredibly nice. It was a fun, fast & delicious food option. And they get extra points for being so kind to my kids. Oh and yes they liked the cheese steaks too. Ate it all up. My husband and I got the "real thing" with this red sauce. It was a little spicy but not that intense. Just gave it a good kick. My kids shared a regular cheese steak. Honestly both are delicious. Go there now.
