My boyfriend and I loved this place!! Super fancy walking in. One entire room is set up for wedding receptions. Very German feel for the atmosphere. We got the sampler platter, and the food was delicious. My blue Hawaiian drink was frothy and amazing. The wait staff were top tier. I’ll attach pictures for reference. Would highly recommend! :)
Food choices had all the German staples and some Cajun choices thrown in there. I'm guessing the owner/cook is a Louisianna German. I ordered the French Onion Soup, Jaegerschnitzel, with Spaetzle and Potato Pancake. Waitress was friendly and made a few recommendations for those in my party not familiar with German cuisine. Ambiance was like an authentic German restaurant, looked like they had a fest hall on one side also. Good was good, a little pricey but good. We also got the appetizer and that was a mix of pretty good little snacks. Complimentary bread and pretzel basket came with some of the spiciest house made mustard ever. Cleared my sinuses and I made sure everyone else tried it and experienced that, haha.
When we arrived there were people eating in the dining area, but none in the Rathskeller. It was a very unique room, quite beautiful, with ornate wood and windows from a by-gone era. The food was plentiful and quite tasty. Service was ok, however the waitstaff was not familiar with the menu choices, One server appeared to be chewing her own meal as she re-filled our glasses. Felt more like a diner than a restaurant.
We dine at the Rathskeller about once every other year (as there are so many restaurants we want to try) and regardless of all other factors this place never disappoints! The food is consistently well prepared, the portions generous, the flavors always as expected, the service friendly and usually the shortest wait from ordering to receiving our meals. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a German offering like schnitzel, my favorite, or the the wurst sampler platter. The Orange Roughy from this evening was excellent, the creamed spinach tasty, the potato pancake was only okay. The salad was also very good. I'm told the Penne Diablo and Shrimp Scampi were delicious. I can't complain about the pricing, as it's in line with expectations for dining out in 2023. Highly recommended, we will be back!
During my visit to Indianapolis, I found this German restaurant spelled incorrectly. The correct spelling is Ratskeller without the h. As a native German, I was excited to visit the restaurant and try their food. I ordered a jaeger schnitzel with french fries and was offered a second side, so I went with the spaetzle, an authentic side from the Stuttgart area in Germany. When served, the breading of the schnitzel was yellow-greenish, which is not a typical way of breading a schnitzel. The French fries were steak fries, and the spaetzle was orange colored. I asked the waiter why the spaezle was orange and was informed that they added food coloring to the dish to make it stand out on the white plate. Then I asked about the green-yellow breading of the schnitzel and was told that they put parsley in the breading; I had never heard of that before. I wondered where the chef was from, and I was told he was Hispanic, following a recipe from a half-German, half-Irish restaurant owner. The waiter shared that native Germans who visited before shared the same feedback. If you are looking for an authentic German restaurant and want to enjoy a nice German-cooked meal, I must disappoint you, and it won't be at the Rathskeller in Indianapolis. Guten appetit. Nein Danke.
The Rathskeller serves up a delicious assortment of authentic German fare within a warm and inviting atmosphere. When we went there was a live band playing in the outdoor garden, a wedding party in one of their big halls and cozy home dining in another segment, not to mention a cozy bar vibe down the hall. Plenty of room for all sorts of gatherings! Will definitely be coming again :)
Food was great. Grilled portobello mushroom was fantastic! I could have literally just ordered more of that. Beef roast was good but different. Chicken Diane was good but little dry. Service was good and atmosphere was great!
Huge place with a variety of seatings inside and outside. Great selection of German beers, delicious food. I like the beer garden atmosphere the most: with live music, fresh air, shade of trees, beautiful view on a cathedral.

Canât think of a single restaurant in Indy that has more character than this place. Waitresses are funny and friendly and interact theatrically with each other. If you like kitsch, this is your spot. Our server recommended the currywurst, which I

Stopped in for my first hot yoga class in years. I had a great experience and look forward to coming back. The Sunday am class was not so packed to where you were on top of each other like some other studios. I loved the studio and the playlist! It w
