The Railway - Sports bar in Pecatonica - 404 Main St, USA

It was just okay. Nothing to write home about. Service was good enough - maybe a little understaffed. The boneless wings were okay, but the garlic Parmesan dipping sauce did not taste like garlic or Parmesan; it tasted like the fake butter movie theaters use on popcorn. I am pretty sure the burger is a preformed patty from a food service company. It was-over seasoned and very salty. Fries were under done and kind of limp. The place looks a little beat up. Duct tape on the bar rail pad and the men’s room has that “used up” thing going on. Needs a refresh. Pet peeve: taxidermy animals in a restaurant. No. Just no. And, if you must have them, dust them occasionally.

Fun place! The Reuben is fantastic, and DO NOT MISS the potato salad! Good food, good prices, upbeat atmosphere, friendly service. Glad we stopped by!

I like my burger medium rare and it was perfectly cooked. Plus the Garlic Parmigiana Potatoe Wedges were awesome.

The food was great , bar was packed but the one bartender/waitress/clean up gal was excellent. She ran her tail off!

2022: Fridays they have ayce Cod baked or fried. We had fried, it was really good. Paired with their Parmesan Garlic Potato Wedges. Yummmm! ____________________________________ 2019: The stuffed mushroom and swiss burger and the pork chop dinner were both delicious. Definitely be going back to try other things that looked good! Service was friendly and attentive.

Meat must be the speciality! Burgers BEST, asking for how you want it cooked 😋

It would be easy to overlook The Railway as "just another bar," but the chef means business. Most things (maybe all?) are made in-house vs. coming in frozen. Such a delicious surprise.

We meet our son in Pecatonica and he called us and said that he was at The Railway. We had dinner and drinks and the place was great. Food was very good especially the potato wedges. We will be back.
