The Quisby - Hotel in New Orleans - 1225 St Charles Ave, USA

ROOM: one of the most affordable hotels to stay during the weekend especially considering the location. very small, but clean and fairly quiet except for loud footsteps from other guests and the occasional rattling of the ac unit. They have rooms with queen bed (1 or 2 beds), king bed, bunk beds, and queen with bunk beds. The beds were clean and very comfortable. Each room has a TV with basic cable and access to streaming services, AC, and walk-in shower with no closing door or a tub. Only select rooms have a fridge and space to fully unpack your belongings. Also, only out of state residents were able to book a room at my time of stay. The hotel is 3 levels with an elevator. Guests are able to freely use kitchen items (fridge and microwave) and use laundry services for a fee. The hotel also has a bar and atm in the lobby. There is no pool. SERVICE: I originally booked the city view room with 2 queen beds but after night one we found the room had ants. Fortunately, the staff was very quick in changing our room and made accommodations for our inconvenience. Anything I needed, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only complaint I have is that the bar wasn't fully equipped so I didn't visit during the trip. LOCATION: located on St Charles st, it's right near a streetcar pickup and dropoff which was super convenient. It's fairly quiet and safe. There's no parking lot for the hotel but plenty of safe and free street parking nearby. So unpack in front of the hotel but plan to park on the street or pay for parking in a lot. There's also a Popeyes and Wendy's near by and bars in walking distance. OVERALL: I don't recommend for large groups because the rooms are small, unless you're booking multiple rooms. It's best for solo travelers, couples, or small groups of 4 or less. I'd definitely stay here again!!

Marcell, Treasure, Sterling, and the lady who helped w towels, plus all the rest of the friendly staff, genuinely made it feel warm and welcoming! The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable! I enjoyed the lounge and a special cocktail from our host! This was my second stay, and I would visit again, except with a larger room.

Overall I think it’s a decent hostel; you get what you pay for. Rooms decent, clean. Three other girls in my room, all very nice and we ended up becoming friendly and going out together. Staff were great, very helpful overall. I would love if they had more (any?) vegan options for breakfast, but I do appreciate the free coffee and tea all day. A bit far from the French Quarter but the neighborhood is safe and it’s only like a half hour walk or short/cheap Uber ride to the touristy parts. Some other reviews mention the loud front door and the blown out speakers — I agree that those were annoying, but the staff said they’re getting fixed soon, and also they didn’t ruin it for me. Overall not bad for a NOLA hostel on Jazz Feat weekend.

The audible atmosphere can be enough to drive me out. The often top 40 pop music is blaring out of badly blown speakers. The electric lock on the entrance bangs and rattles against the frame five times before unlocking, very loudly and it's unsettling. Why not replace the speakers? Why not offer your travelling guests some local and culturally appropriate music to vibe to, at least a lot of the time? The customer service is lackadaisical and unrefined. The rooms look pretty clean, just don't go running your fingers along the fixtures, they seem to only gloss over the housekeeping. And use your locker and bring a lock, as you should @ any hostel. Things go missing here. This hostel would benefit from a little attention, it could be a sweet spot and I'd happily pay a higher price if the beds had privacy pods and properly trained staff. The atmosphere in the lobby is the real disaster of the place. Eas fix, I hope someones on it. Decent hostel breakfast, but overall just average with a couple problems.

I stayed for a week during Jazz Fest. Marcel and Nakira at the front desk made my stay wonderful. They were attentive and answered all my questions. Mary, Erica and Ari in housekeeping did an exceptional job keeping the room spotless and making sure linens were fresh each day. The breakfast was good and I ate it each morning. They have 24/7 coffee and the hostel is located right in front of the street trolley! I give it 5 stars hand down! I've travelled to 30 countries and this is my first American hostel and I must say it was a vibe!

This was a super cool place to stay! Staff was super friendly, and answers all our questions. The only complaint is the water wasn’t much over warm for the shower and the door seemed a bit tricky to open. Would definitely stay again!!

Great hotel in New Orleans. This is undergoing renovations, so it is nice and neat, looking great. The room was clean, and comfortable, and the staff very nice I've been on a road trip staying at hotels $130 and less. This was by far the best one.

I’ve been a backpacker for years all over the world and this is the worst service I’ve received in any of them. If you’re looking for just a place to sleep then yes I recommend, rooms are decent and location is good with the tram stopping right outside ( it takes you to the main area ) Service wise is appalling, out of 5 workers only one of them was welcoming, actually was approachable. Everyone else seemed bothered if you asked them a question, more focused on their phones and laptop instead of creating an atmosphere which is what a hostel is about. If you’re a solo traveler and want to socialise THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. The common area is nothing special, quite small as all the spaces were taken up by people working on their laptops. They were out of towels for 3 days, someone used mine and my cousins’s and everyday we asked for new ones we were told “ it’s not our problem, it’s housekeeping”. Breakfast is pointless, they can’t be bothered to refill anything and once again if you ask them they will look at you and act bothered. It’s not worth it, go somewhere else. Also if they even see one item of food in your room whether it’s open or not they will try to charge you 20 dollars. Regardless if you’re just keeping it as there is nowhere else to store it. By the way you also can’t even do food shopping to make something, there is no space and no utilities, we were lucky to find a plastic fork. If all you want is a bed, go for it, but for how amazing New Orleans is, this place is the worst representation and welcome into the beautiful city.
