They have done some amazing reconstruction. The park is great for the bigger kids. Walking trails are wonderful. Bike and dog friendly. Scenic sight of the quarry. I can not wait to see the new flower garden in the spring and summer. They even have a cat truck bed and front loader for the Littles to climb on. The butterfly chairs are great for pictures.
We stopped here after my daughter's soccer tournament. Visiting from out of town we came across this park. My girls enjoyed everything here. My kids loved the playground. There was so much to do. The dirt digging was their favorite. Climbing. Slides. They were entertained for a few hours. They didn't want to leave. I enjoyed the beautiful view from the Quarry. We all had a great time.
Wish we could've stayed longer to do a trail.
Honestly, you need to get there and see for yourself. This place has absolutely beautiful views. The whole park is very clean and put together. The playground is nice for the kids. They have a picnic area. They have a shelter where you can have lunch or whatever you wanna do plenty of parking & the trail is nice. This has to be my favorite place to just go and relax my mind.
We took two of our grandkids to this park last weekend when we were in Winston-Salem, NC. It is a really nice and well maintained park. I'm sure it is utilized by local residents quite a bit. If you're ever in the area it's worth the stop I'd nothing more than to the giant lake created by the hole made by the quarry company.
This lake created by the quarry is 12-acre in size and is estimated to be more than 200 feet deep in some areas.
The park's focal point is the steel overlook pier that extends over the eastern side of the quarry, offering views of the deep blue waters of the old quarry that gives the park its name. The city skyline of WS can be seen in the distance. The park also has several other minor overlooks offering different perspectives on the old quarry.
The quarry was operated as Piedmont Quarry from the mid-1920s until the early 1970s. When work stopped the quarry slowly filled with water, though high cliffs still ring the site. Vulcan Materials donated the land to the city in 1997.
I heard about this park through some of my friends and it is a really cool place. Views are amazing and it is just a good place to hang out! there are also a lot of trails and they are a playground for kids. There is also a picnic area to eat!
Loved it . My daughter and i stayed for about an hour . Looking at the quarry was awesome . There’s some locks on the bridge which I thought was pretty cool . Lots of stuff for kids to do . And some cool spots adults can just chill and hang out too . Definitely recommend for a family outing
I was in town for a conference and found this park on a whim but it was a wonderful discovery. What a beautiful place! If I had the time I would spend all day out there. Very clean park, well taken care of, with visual caretakers on the grounds. Breathtaking overlook.
Such a great spot for kids, The quarry got some bycicle and pedestrian trails, some tables if you want to dine in, restrooms; educational information about this kind of rocks and a stunning forest and lake view..
